Terrain altitude

Trying to do a low-level mission. Is there a way to determine the altitude of the terrain enroute so as to avoid pranging into the side of a mountain?

The map is less than topographic.

I suppose one could fly the route as a recon mission first, but it would be neater to be able to do it in the planning.

i know its not using cfs3 map but you could plan your route with something like google maps then transfer that to your cfs3 map. just an idea.

11:43 update. Google Maps doesn't seem to have the ability, or I'm missing it. But I did find this.

You can draw your route in segments and then have it profile the elevations along those segments. The little I played with it might just work.

Gotta go do real life things now (It's 54 deg. F here in Bangor; thinking of launching the boat again....) but this might just do it.

Well, fwiw, I use both Flight Sim Commander (FSC) (payware) and Plan-G (freeware). Since they're both designed as flight planners, Minimum Enroute Altitude is easily determined, as I recall (don't have either up, right now).

If you don't have it, Plan-G is a quick and easy try. http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/planG.htm

If you're heavy with coin, FSC is a real peach. http://www.fscommander.com/
