Texture problems

tankerguy72

SOH-CM-2023
Ive been doing textures for some time slowly teaching myself but, I seem to get this problem regularly. After I paint something and load it they slowly start getting colored squares just showing up. Does anyone know what this is or what im doing wrong?

DXT compression corruption I think, every time you save as a DXT it gets worse, do all your paint in 32 bit format and only save as DXT when you are satisfied, also keep a copy of your 32 bit paint.

A couple of saves as DXT3 will soon make a mess of it.

Thanks!:salute: whats the advantage of saving in DXT on your final version? just curious

You reduce the corruption to practically nothing personally I stick with 32 bit, DXT reduces the file size by compression thats where corruption creeps in.

TG, you never mentioned if you are using a layered paint template?, or are you using the .BMP files that Milton had originally supplied? IF you are using the original .BMP's, I'll assume you're re-using them for your paints also? If so, that's where your corruption transpires from.
