SOH-CM-2024
Just sent up to SOH the new repaint of the default texture for Aeroplane Heaven's F3F-2 for FS2004. This paint deals with a US Navy F3F-2 from VF-4 on the carrier Wasp.

Caz, beautiful paint job but a respectful comment here...
Squadron VF-4 is not pertinent to this plane.
Aircraft number should be "7-F-1" to reflect the Fighter Squadron 7 (VF-7) Commanding Officer's aircraft embarked aboard USS Hornet (CV-7). The black tail is correct for any aircraft in Hornet's air wing.
If I am not correct here I hope Mick Morrissey will step in and give me a slap-down but I'm pretty sure neither VF-4 nor VF-6 were associated with carrier Hornet in the 1940 time frame. The "Blue Burglar Wasp" is VF-7's logo.

Thanks a bunch Tarps, I shall correct AH's info in the cfg too and correct the numbers, easy job really, everything is in layers and the text is not rastatized. :icon_lol:

Expect a replacement fuse_t texture later today with an ammended cfg.

Thanks again Caz. These paints look fantastic and the aircraft is more fun to fly now. Quick question about the polished marine version you did a week or two ago. I think my system has some settings messed up as the polished version is not looking too shiny on my PC. I am using the env bit map created by lionheart and most of my "shiny" aircraft are very reflective. For some reason the polished version you posted up is not coming through shiny for me. Any idea what settings would determine whether the shine comes through or not? I'd like to make the adjustment on my PC to see your work but am not sure what to adjust.

Again, thanks for the awesome work, can't wait to install the latest update here.

You sure know how to make an old plane look new again!

Will have to grab this paint, and the others, and dress the F3F up for a night on the town.

Lou, I didn't give the aluminum fuselage a shiny Alpha, only a very light Alpha of 235. For the metal fuselages I am doing for the repaints, the base alpha for the exposed metal is much darker at 175. One doesn;t want a bright chrome, now only does it look incorrect, it plays bad trick on the environmental butmaps.

I use a base color of RBG 136, 136, 136 (or HEX 888888), color listed at Simmer's paint Shot for the US FS number for Silver. One merely varies the Alpha to get a shine or a sheen.
