Those two guys both brought up helos in the same weekend...and that got me in the mood to fly a helo. So, I just spent the last 30 minutes or so flying the Alphasim S-55 through the high mountains of Idaho and thinking about how I am going to skin this bird for use as a bush cargo hauler.

I have flown many a helo in CFS2 and FS2004, and most have left me disappointed....but the Alpha S-55 is not one of them. This is by far the best handling helo I have flown. I was actually able to set this puppy down on the top of a mountain, in a small clearing amongst the Pine Trees, pick up some lost skiers, and head for home.

HaHaHaaa!!! I was part of that corruption huh? Hehehe. Helicopters are a great way to get the blood boiling. I know. I been there more often than not. And the fact that we can get the dang things off the ground in one piece, doesn't necessarily work when you want to land :icon_lol: But, persistence pays off eventually. I think I currently got the most flights with the most broken helifloppers around.

But on the other side of that coin OBIO, I'm glad the encouragement rubbed off on you again. Because I need someone else to compete with to see who tells their story of losing the main rotor in a tree first. Just kidding.

Now get back :173go1: to the new sound files for the Brantley B2 so I can enjoy that bird some more :engel016:

By the way. Is that S-55 freeware? I wouldn't mind giving it a crash test!!

Take Care :ernae:

Yes, the S-55 is freeware. Check the Alphasim site, our library, or AVsim for it. If those three places are all out of order...shoot me a line and I will send it to ya.

Oh, I did up a passingly decent sound pack for this chopper (in our library...not sure if the download link is working or not...main pack plus an update). You really need to check it out. Make sure the rotor clutch is disengaged before cranking over that big noisy radial engine.

Tim

I'm on the hunt. Thanks. I'll try a search here to see if I can muster up the sound pack and update too.

I managed to get the bird. And, it's pretty tame. Those big main rotor blades sure don't spin up much do they. I was expecting it to be all over the sky when I took off. My movements on the stick were wayyy off for the way this thing flies. Nice bird though.
Thanks Alphasim for making it freeware :ernae:

Repaints

Thank you OBIO and OleBoy for all the Beautiful work .
Beautiful sound , OBIO .
There are many paints in FlightSim for the S-55 .
The CH-34 is another good flyer .
I had this paint for the CH-34 .
Not sure where I downloaded it from .

Y'know another really easy helo to fly is the Munch Brothers Rotorway Exec 162. :ernae:
(screenshot from download IIRC)

So far, this one impress's me the most. I really like this one. And there are a few nice repaints over at Flightsimdotcom. Do a search for Wessex ;)
