The elusive Runtime Error

This will prove once again that "anything" can cause this error (Runtime Error 6025) to occur. For over a week now I have racked my brain (at least what is still remaining) trying to find the addon that is causing the constant errors. It had gotten so bad that I couldn't even get the gear completely up before I would get the error. I removed everything that wasn't specifically P3D related. All FSX native aircraft and the few custom sceneries that I had loaded and I was still getting the error although not as quickly as before. I finally did a search of all threads on the LM Forums for any mention of the runtime error problem and got page after page after page. It's a widely found problem. Every individual was getting the problem from what seemed like a different scenario. Some were scenery related, some were addon aircraft related, some were a combination of both. . .but one individual gave a different opinion. He had turned off "tessellation", then realized later that he had started having problems some time after he did that. He went back, turned it on and has had no problems since. I had also been using tessellation but during a TS discussion with an SOH member it was suggested that I turn that off (don't remember the exact reason now). Anyway, I went back last evening, turned it back on, restarted the sim and haven't had a single error pop-up since.

Now according the experts at LM, the cause for this error is that there is a function call that is incompatible with P3D, caused by either an incompatible scenery or aircraft. But based on what I found, and what others have found works for them. . .it is that and many other things as well. It's why this particular error has been so difficult to pinpoint and correct. Just something that you can take a look at if you are also being plagued by this elusive error message.

I'm no expert, but from what I understood, the tessellation is the thing that sends the scenery work to your video card instead of the CPU.
So if tessellation is off, P3D acts like FSX, all the job is done by the CPU.
If tessellation is on, then the video card starts to work, and the CPU has less stuff to do to render the terrain.
The tessellation is actually one of the major steps forward brought by the new graphic engine of P3D, compared to FSX. I don't understand why somebody would want to turn that off ?

In any case, thanks for forwarding that info here. That was quite a problematic bug indeed, and if I would have faced it, I really wouldn't have thought about the tessellation at all...

turned mine on and flew for 45 min. without a shutdown..........
...that might be the problem.

Hi all,

Just joined the forum - thanks to Paul for approving my account for posting :)

I'm TrafficPilot on other forums (I do radio traffic news - sometimes from an aeroplane hence the name!).

I have also been getting the dreaded R6025 error. Unfortunately when I tick tesselation to ON I get minor stutters regardless of my FPS but with it off I was getting lovely smooth performance - until the R6025 error came along time and time again.

I've just about given up for now. Have removed P3D and put a fresh install of FSX (DX10) back on my SSD. I can live without the P3D cloud/terrain shadows and non popping autogen for a while until they figure how to get rid of that error. I was getting it with a default P3D installation and no add-ons.

Maybe the forthcoming V2.3 will work better. For now I'm sticking with FSX so I don't lose more weekends fiddling with P3D and not flying..

Best of luck will keep an eye on the P3D forum.

Cheers

Yep, with Tessellation checked I also experience slight stutters from time to time, but the alternative was that before I got the wheels up the error message would pop up, so I can take the minor stutters.

I was also seeing the error with just a basic install, which is why this particular error is so hard to troubleshoot and no idea why the tessellation setting should cause an error.

Maybe the forthcoming V2.3 will work better. For now I'm sticking with FSX so I don't lose more weekends fiddling with P3D and not flying..

I had also gotten to the point that all I was doing was troubleshooting, getting po'd and shutting the computer off, lol. At least in my case, it seems to have been corrected with the checking of the tessellation option. For now, lol.
