Manufactured in 1932, three-seat open/cabin mid-wing monoplane on floats, powered by a 300 hp Wasp Junior (or 450 hp Wasp). It was a one off hybrid designed by Charles Rocheville, wing from a Lockheed Sirius, tail from a Lockheed Vega. Special-purpose plane for Shell Oil Co. in Alaskan photographic explorations. Pilot in open cockpit in small nacelle, crew in enclosed pods atop pontoons. It crashed in 1933 during testing.

I have no idea how I end up finding these sites. & to think that this aircraft was real, & there are other pictures of it out there!

They say that if a plane looks right it will fly right.

Are we surprised that this Frankenplane crashed before it even finished being tested?

Maybe it's suitable for FS, where you can crash all day and not get killed.

It might fit better into Crimson Skies than FS9 or GW3.

:dizzy:

That thing belongs in a 1930s comic strip - like Terry & the Pirates - or a movie like "Sky Captain."

So ugly it's almost cute.

I remember "Crimson Skies" and still have my copy somewhere... NONE of those planes looked right, except the Do335 Arrow, all painted up in bright red and gloss black.:redfire:

And that plane in the pic doesn't look right either... it may have flown successfully if it had a stronger engine.

I think you need Fred Flintstone as the pilot and it would look correct. About time FS had a Flintstone plane! lol

Yes, FS does need some more fun stuff indeed.
Years ago, Andy Johnson did a flying party and a large house scenery, where you flew from room to room & he did a Microsoft Isle.
We do need more tongue in cheek planes (& scenery) :jump:

Those big cannons look like something out of Crimson Skies... I have seen a lot of your screen shots Huub, you certainly have quite the collection of oddball planes, sir. :biggrin-new:

I remember that stuff! I remember a giant house, a giant kitchen and a giant tube that you could fly through. But I don't remember a MS aisle.

Actually its a genuine FS9 model and you can find it at French-VFR. It is the Super-Dupont created by Beercan. The model based on an aircraft in a comic.

It has a nice VC as well !

Thanks, but it will not let me download it. It just restarts, my browser after I put in the username & password.

I changed to Firefox & it worked, I can download all there, except for the Nieuport, that looks stunning, gives a 'file not found' error.

The Nieuport is indeed hard to get. I think it was at least my tenth attempt over multiple days when it finally worked....

Cheers,
Huub

I had this problem it wouldn't let me download it from the English side, clicked on the flag to change to the French side and it downloads every time. It was only the Nieuport file that I had to do this to download it the username and password is the same give it a try and see it works for you.
Just downloaded it ok click on the filename using the French side and it downloads ok.
