    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

The First Air Force One......?

I remember seeing that when I was stationed at DMAFB..
Problem was...I wasn't into photography back then.....:kilroy::kilroy::kilroy:

I thought the first plane made to carry the prez was a Douglas Dolphin then later a VC-54C, but I figure it's all in how one defines "Air Force 1".

IIRC the first use of the "Air Force One" designation occured during Eisenhower's presidency. It came about as a result of some ATC confusion between Ike's plane and an airliner that were using the same number designation. Ike's plane being identified by it's tail number and the airliner by it's flight number which happened to match.

Don't know when the first time was but here is FDR eating his birthday cake on a B-314.
