The future of PC "Gaming"

I've not read the article, but have wondered about whether anyone else wishes CFS3 had other things. For example alternate views or split screens, lasting smoke and contrails, and a flight replay from different standpoints (target, wingman, etc.) Perhaps these exist as an add-on??? More likely, such things may appear in future versions.

Any thoughts or leads on this?

I think its kind of cool, think of what it could do for a shooter like World At War or COD 4.. To actually be able to go to cover physically, run from one spot to another would be cool. You would need a big screen to do this on, but man what a trip!

The only thing that worries me are programs like that little boy by the lake thing, replace computer AI for real friends in the real world..

their comments about aces are very telling. otherwise, the technology is interesting, but as the name suggests, it's very early in it's development. to see the really cool stuff that could come from software like that, it will take a few years for developers to begin exploring it's potential.
consider how many changes have occoured because of the internet itself. the first few years that it was available to the common household, it lacked much of the functionality and features we currently employ. it took a while before people thought of youtube, facebook, mapquest, etc.

Consoles=frozen technology. I would wish that PC Games would fully utilize new Hardware (graphics, AI, physics). The real barrier will be always the display.

One of the reasons FS was so popular was all the addons.

One of the reasons the iPhone has revolutionised the cellphone market (note all the cell phones now look similar to the iPhone that are coming out), is that iPhone has gaming and programs capability, and ease of use. With 50,000 Apps (programs) available, some free, the iPhone is an amazing platform, and its easy to make programs for as well.

With FS2004 and previous editions, FS was the ultimate playground for every type of addon. With the added sophistications of FSX, its demands of programmers (developers) was a bit too high, and tons of the addons (basically Apps) were moderately diminished.

Being able to add to the platform (base game/sim/program) seems to be the big thing in gaming these days. Even with the popular Sims game, you can get tons of things for it for total customization. Poeple are hiring developers to make them furniture, clothing, people mesh, putting their own face photos on characters. They are intensely enjoying this game and the key element is that they are adding to it, (again, like Apps).

Modularizational Expandability....! Be it on a console (I doubt a console presently can do this), or a PC / Mac computer...

Yes, Bill, they should have made it a lot easier for developers and i hope they realized it. :monkies:
I don't think that Consoles will ever allow the same kind of expandability as PCs :running:
