"The Hun" (F-100 Super-Sabre) Flies Again

Very nice!!

I've always liked the lines of the Hun, but never thought much of it otherwise. Those photos are awesome and bring out the appeal in it.

For a very short time, I had the privilege of working on F-100s. I was with the 181st TFG, based at Terre Haute, IN. At the time, they were transitioning from F-100s to F-4s.

Interesting aircraft.

My home state Air Guard flew the Hun and I always enjoyed seeing them flying when I was growing up. The last ones that I saw flying were in late 1973 while I was attending a desert training course near White Sands, NM.

The first plane I ever saw/heard go supersonic was a Hun as it made a low level pass. I thought that it had burst my ear drums. Much louder than a rifle.

Got to see this beauty in Michigan a few weeks ago... You really hear that afterburner kick in... It almost sounds fake.... very different from the AB of modern fighters.
