As I play, I'm sure to notice more.

The Meteorological officer, Leaves when told, NOW

Caught a few stray bullets, with my fuel tank, last night in my Pup. Had to land, deep in enemy territory, normally I would retire my pilot on my own.

This time, a screen appears informing me: You've been captured by enemy forces, and hospitalized for 18 days. When you've regained your health, you will become a prisioner of War, in 2 days you will escape

PS . . . My pilot can NEVER die, that might have something to do with it ! :applause::applause::applause:

You're kidding...you can escape from prison as well?
Dang! RB3D days are coming back! And its going to be way more fun!

One of the other "little things"
In one of my early flights, I caught a round (or two) in the engine of my Albatross D.Va. The engine immediately began to lose power and the sound changed, it sounded like the engine was coming apart! Coughing and rattling and sputtering. That was a brilliant touch to alter the sound based on damage.:ernae:

Looking at the Duty Board and seeing that some of my squadron mates were 'on leave'.

Seeing a message pop up that my flight had been canceled due to weather.

Looking down and seeing my pilot's arms and legs in the cockpit - very cool! I hope we can get this added to every plane some day.

In Phase 1 there were NO pilots

There were about a half a dozen pilots in Phase 2
I could be wrong, but only the N11 was a retrofit

In Phase 3, as an aircraft is added, a pilot is included, no retro's that I've noticed yet :ernae:

Gone With the Wind

Flew with Jasta 2 tonight hoping to see the Baron himself but the first mission was a lone wolf patrol.(not over water!):applause: No enemy aircraft encountered the whole flight but the rain and wind did find me on the trip home. It was the most difficult landing I have ever tried to make. The headwind was so strong over the airfield that I could fly almost standing still. I tried to come in from several directions but to land flying sideways proved to be very difficult. I did make it in and sat there amazed at the realism of the whole experience.

I am really enjoying this!:Banane40:

Kriegsgefangenenlager Douai, Oberst von Mahlo at his writing desk;
commander of guards entering, saluting.
"Herr Oberst! Hauptfeldwebel Sasse meldet sich zur Stelle!"
The Oberst: "Sasse - vee have a report here from one of der night guards, sayink, zatt der American pilot vizz zee inch ssick glasses haz been caught diggink a hole near ze fenze behind der Barrack vizz a soup spoon! He vantz to escape! My orders: he vill not be given knives, forks or even spoons for ze meals, from now on! If he vantz to leave, he muzt dig zat tunnel vizz his bare handz, ze Schweinehund, verstanden ?!!"
"Herr Oberst - and how shall he eat ze soup?"
"He can drink it, ja? Or, even better: give him only dry bread, from now on!"
This order finally made it a clear decision for Gimpy: I want a good steak again - I have to dig a way out out of here, and if it's with my empty hands!

JARHEAD and CROZBONE, you start that must-have-fever again for P3. Damn - to hear the engine dying sounds, or head wind really noticable, making landing difficult - that sounds great!

While trying to down a two seater, his wingmate's gunner shot up my engine pretty bad. It caught fire and I dove trying to land before I exploded... didn't make it. In the mission review, I chuckled when I got to the point just before I exploded and read "There is now damage to many critical components." ... In other words, "You're hosed, dude!"

Thanks guys - so many new wee things in OFF P3 (apart from the obvious ones) - its good to see them being discovered.

When I land (my N. 11), my engine shuts off automatically. I don't know if it's related to the fact that I have "auto mixture control" turned on in the workshop but I like not having to scramble to remember how to shut down the engine.

On one mission I did experience something strange though. When landing, it was as if I had a 40 knot head wind. I was just about to touch down and the headwind was so strong I was actually suspended in air. When I did drop it down, I was actually pushed backwards on the ground. Engine never did shut off.

I attributed it to a wind factor but am still not sure. If it was, WAY COOL!

Yes wind is in P3...

I like the way that now if you use warp which kicks in at any speed over 66mph assuming you are far enough away from the airfield, not sure if height matters anymore, but you are now credited with the actual flight time for the mission and not just the 2 or 3 mins it took warp to fly the whole mission, it also puts you at the correct altitude for the mission.

Thanks
