The Med

I've been putting together a rendition of FS9 for flying around the Mediterrean from the late thirties (skipping WW2) thru the early fifties and have found 11 period aircraft so far but none French. Any suggestions? Needs to be prop type with VC. Seems a lot of my favorites sources are MIA.

Thanx, Oldliner. Unfortunately, no VCs. And I see I had a senior moment and left out a key word. Airliner.

Motormouse,
Luv the Bloch 220, altho I think it needs to rolled over to the wash rack. Kinda grungy.:icon_lol: Plane fixer, huh? Real world or virtual world? Haven't latched onto the MD-311 yet. Yeah, FSDome and their perenial popup is a PITA, ain't it?

There are a couple of very nice repaints with French reg for the Auster J1 over at Classic British Files.

The Marcel Dassault 311 is a nice aircraft from Restauravia, but it's a postwar plane, first flight: july 6th 1947.
nice day all.

indeed it is, but Mr Waco said he was interested in 1930's thru early 1950's so I figured it would fit the bill

Same here, Pete. Real world plane fixer for Uncle Sam for twenty years. From B-36's to FB-111's. And I couldn't seem to find the MD-311 and then I couldn't get on the FSDome site. Thought I'd try again today.

I've done the C-130's and F4's, too. F4's on your side of the pond and SEA. Made it to your neighborhood, too. A closed WW2 RAF base around Norwich. Can't remember the name. I picked up a MD-311 from Simviation. Have to figure out how to get the gauges to show. Thanx for the help. :ernae:

Got the gauges for the MD-311 installed. Finally got the FSDome MD-3ll downloaded. The gauge folder was in the zip download but not within the Simviation download. Go figure.

How about dual FS installations?

You could use Golden Wings to fly in the pre-war years, and a "stock" FS9 set up for the post war years, using the Cal Classics AI package and some of their airports (like Lisbon.)

For my post-war sim I took the Cal Classics AI package, which is meant to depict the world around 1959, and backdated it by replacing all the turboprops (eg., Viscounts) with DC-3 and DC-4 variants. Then you could add your own military AI, with appropriate planes for each sim.

There are lots of pre-WW2 European planes out there, and a lot of post-war planes too. For both pre- and post-war types you might start by checking Classic British Files.

Mick,
I've got a Berlin Airlift rendition with appropriate AI and airlift planes to fly. Works good except when re-installing after a computer crash (hardware went belly up), I lost the cryllic instruments in my LI2. Can't remember how I set it up originally.

I've got three FS2004 renditions on this computer and three on another computer (Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Pre-WW2, and WW2, all with Golden Wings).

Right now the engines on the MD-311 will crank over but will not fire and idle, except when I remove the gauge file. I already tried advancing the throttle above "idle cutoff" before starting. No joy there. Gotta be something in the VC I need to turn on. Haven't time to start looking for it now. Anybody have any clues?

waco,
Manuele Villa has several Italian a/c on here -search for mvg3d - don't forget his Alitalia Lancastrian paint for the Classic British a/c on the 2nd or 3rd page of his files. Perfect Med planes! including floaters

Rob

Rob,
Already have some of Manuele's beautiful aircraft. This new project started becuz I had so much fun island hopping around the Caribbean in the Golden Wings era, especially flying the pre-WW2 Sikorsky amphibians. I figured hopping around the Med could be just as fun with period aircraft.
