The Return of the P-61

I have returned to working on the project. In the two years that have passed while I have been working it off and on I have learned a lot of things that will only improve the final product, but it will mean a fair amount of rework. Much of what I am currently doing is "behind the scenes" and involves modeling stuff that I won't bore you with here.

Nice to see one being brought to life. Hoping for a speedy release, but the realist says to take your time and turn out a quality product.

Thanks!

At times we all need a Eagles holiday , then come back refreshed , that first screen looks so mean - in the real world i would really hate to be looking over my shoulder and see that <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden"><input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

painted black in the absolute dark of night- you wouldn't have to worry too much about seeing it over your shoulder...until it started spitting at you...

I forget how many years ago this project started. M. Davies was interested in working on a D ware project to support the Outhouse. Planes were kicked around and I suggested the P61, which sir M liked. I did what I though was a pretty good start at the flight dynamics, but the plane died as Mr Davies had othe commitments. I do remember flying various alphas around Guadalcanal.

Cheers. T

It's great that the P-61 is picked up again. I miss these great discussions about it's history, flight dynamics and engines in that monumental thread which used to be in the stickies.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for the quick peek Robert. This beauty will be flying out of Iwo Jima for sure. Great to see the project is very much alive.

Feel free to share as much modelling stuff when and where you like Robert, but it's great to see the Widow ongoing. :salute:

Take your time. But based on family history, I've only got about 20 good years left so not toooo much time.
I've liked reading the historical info that popped up in the old thread as well as the details about the the difficulties of modelling the Widow accurately. That info led me to decide to leave aircraft design to those that it made sense to, and to work on scenery stuff that makes some small sense to me.
