The Stunning Dave Maltby Aircraft?

dougal

Charter Member 2016
Anyone know if there's a way to have a VC for surpurb VC10 from Dave Maltby? There are VCs for the others, but not it seems, for the VC10.

All these years on, and I still think his aircraft are outstanding in FSX.

Any help much appreciated.
Ta!

What you are asking is not possible. DM's VC10 is not FSX native so you cannot add an FSX VC mdl.
There is another (payware) VC10 from Addictive Simulations which has a nice VC and it works in FS9 and FSX.

Maybe one day someone will make a native FSX Vickers... Martyn, if you are looking :)

Ok thanks Martyn. I guess the Trident and BAC1-11 VCs must've been done in a different way then? They're great!

The VC's on DM's 1-11, Trident and Comet were built-in to the model and are FS9 native. The poor old VC10 never got a VC.. much to the disappointment of a great many people. That's the difference;)

Go to the SimViation site/search. Look for Michael Pook, download one of his updated planes and find his email-adress. If anyone can put a VC in a plane where there is none it's he, though maybe you'll have non-working gauges (but that's not his fault, but MS).

Cheers, hertzie.

There is a problem with that and I quote DM's EULA..

Steps have been taken in the model's design to provide evidence should it be decompiled & used as a base for another 3d model.
You are not allowed to decompile the 3D model. Although I give away the final results for free, I do not give away all the design work that went into it.

I won't say this applies to ALL developers but it certainly applies to many and rightly so. To the best of my knowledge.. there's no way a VC could be shoe-horned into the VC10 without decompiling it and in this case.. that is verboten;)

I tried Maltby's BAC 1-11 in P3D. While it was outstanding in FSX, the graphics are corrupted in the vc in P3D. Unfortunate.

You must have done something wrong - they are fine ,no corruption and they fly great

Hmm.. a few textures are missing from the VC in those shots.. oxygen tube, yoke, control column, speed brake, throttles, flaps, trim wheel but otherwise.. she's good to go.;) I don't know P3D's file structure but I can't see why the missing textures can't be made to display given a bit of fiddling:)

Dave I just dragged the files across from FSX I maybe missed a few textures as some were in the FSX\Textures folder.

Edit upon rechecking I didn't see the $DMxxxxxxxx files in my dragging.

I get to them eventually.

Rgr that:encouragement: I remember similar issues arising when putting the models into FSX. If you leave something alone for long enough.. it's easy to forget how you arrived at the successful conclusion. I do this all the time:banghead::biggrin-new: You're right though.. your shots above don't show corruptions of any kind.

DM's VC-10 is stunning. Period. Yes, even today. Massive shame there is no vc for it in FSX . .

More than once I have posted a question here at SOH, seen a link at the bottom of the page to similar topics and followed it to find that it is me, posting the answer to the same question when someone else had asked it before.

There is indeed a 'Textures' folder for Dave Maltby aircraft. Contains a lot.
