Swiss deep-sea explorer and engineer Jacques Piccard, who reached the deepest depths of the world's oceans and pioneered the construction of deep-diving submersibles, died this weekend at the age of 86, in his Lake Geneva home.

We're losing so many pioneers...

Amazing what all he did. I couldnt imagine going down 10 kilometers under the ocean. I wonder what that submersible looked like when it surfaced. I'll bet it was right at the brink of implosion, groaning and compressing... Well made though if it went down that far.
