The Transcontinental Announced

The Fall Event Team is happy to announce The Transcontinental.

This is a live real time race running coast-to-coast from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Set in the late 1940s, the main aircraft are World War II surplus fighters (specified in a White List). The structure of the event will require several refueling stops.

Solo entries are fine, multi-member team entries may be even better.

The start time is at 0800 PDT (1500 UTC) on Saturday October 26, 2013. The event will take about six hours from start to finish.

European and North American pilots should be able to make the event's timing. Pilots with limited free time may participate on a team while making a commitment of only a couple of hours. Entries are due on Wednesday, October 23 – although late entries and changes will be almost surely be approved by the Committee.

Please see the draft of the Official Rules available from a Dropbox account here. This document is "near-final" but may be modified before the start as we receive feedback from the participants. So if you have an idea about how to make the event work better for everyone, please post your suggestions in this thread.

Sounds like fun... I'm in!

A request for review and evaluation of the BSK Mosquito NFII by BrunoSK, for inclusion in the event.

Also, will an allowance be made if FSRealWXLite is used?

Thanks!

Do you have a file name and where it can be found?

Count me in.

Mike and committee,

Count me in for this one. As it sits now as a solo, although this may change prior to the 23rd. Using the A2A P-51D . Thinking about doing a repaint - PAUL I.

Nooooooooooooooooooo!! The only weekend I definitely can't do it! :frown:

Should be a great event though, really wish I could take part. I'll probably be monitoring the progress of the race from a hotel room in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Repaint huh? Do tell!!!!

Also count me in, gonna probably pick up the A2A P-51D, don't have it yet, only have the p51-H which isn't allowed apparently. :violent:

P.S. need a stamps my foot smiley. :)

Eamonn,

Just FYI - the D model came with the P-51H package from A2A, maybe a reinstall?

The repaint I "would" like to do is "PAUL I", in memoriam of Paul Poberezny, (his personal ship) the founder of EAA. He passed away just a few weeks after this years convention.

Not a real pro when it comes to repaints, going to take a lot of patience. :isadizzy: Got 3 weeks to get'r done.. :running:

Looking forward to seeing how it comes out Roman!

I'll say one thing about the Transcontinental, it's got me back to doing some paints. Couldn't make up my mind what to fly, so I did "racin' paints" for the top 3 on the list :icon_lol:

I should be close enough to having Old Rhinebeck completed by then to take a day off, lol. Count me in with the Sky Unlimited P-38J.:salute:

Very nice idea for an event! I'll pass the word along on the Flightsim Multi-Player Adventures forum. :mixedsmi:

Great idea RedGreen, I found out about it when MM posted in the avsim forum as i dont check the SOH forum that often.

It was such a great idea that MM totally beat me to it! Guess that was my brain fart for today. :p:
