The IJN only had eight or so real fleet carriers, at least ships comparable to our fleet carriers. Shokaku and Zuikaku were probably the longest lived as well as the most capable and useful of all the IJN CVs. In many ways they were comparable to our Essex Class.

Soryu (CV comparable to the Yorktown Class)
Hiryu (CV comparable to the Yorktown Class)
Shokaku (CV comparable to the Essex Class)
Zuikaku (CV comparable to the Essex Class)
Shinano (Yamato BB hull. Sunk by the USS Archerfish)
Taiho (CV with armored deck. Sunk by sub torpedos)
There were also several conversons of ocean liners, seaplane tenders, cargo and tanker ships into what we would consider light and escort carries. These generally had an aircraft compliment of around 30 and speeds between the low 20s to the high 20 knot range. Some used detroyer machinery for convenience or necessity.
