Glad that one got put out

If that happens again remember to stop snapping the pictures in time to get the Heck out of there before you end up :ichile:

Stay safe and thanks those are cool shots.

Yep, the UH-1Hs (and the 210) all flying together made me wonder if I was going to start hearing Ride of the Valkyries. I've been going to fires for a long time, but that was the most efficient copter train I'd seen.

Some of my shots from the left flank:

Yep, they've been slowly painting them in pairs over the past 2 seasons. First 70 and 71 (Ramona) then 82 and 83 (Columbia) and funny you mention it... 88 and 89 at Grass Valley got painted in the new scheme this winter. What you see on Tanker 83 in those pics is the new scheme. Kinda cartoonish, but grows on you eventually.

On the old paint job, they went and made the tanker number on top of the right wing larger. (like you see in that last photo).

i dont know..but maybe the "cartoonishness" of the new paint is what i like..i really like the way T83 looks,i havent gotten to see 88 or 89 up close yet this season, they have either passed me to the east over the river,or farther west, more over linclon, than auburn, they used to pass right over my house if enroute to say a fire in eastern sacramento,or western eldorado counties, they would over fly the airport at whatever the safe altitude is,over my house and then over lake tahoe when out-bound from GV,when in bound, they were farther east,,,listening to "Hoser",he would have them do a "race track " pattern, this may not make sense,,but he says..port wing "to the fire",so you are allways turning left.
