"Patricia" grew from a tropical storm to a Category 5 in 24 hours - only the second such recorded event of it's kind.

Current peak sustained winds are 170 Kts (200 mph) with gusts to 215 Kts (250 mph). Central pressure is still dropping - last reported at 879Mb and possibly dropping below 875Mb.
Cat. 5 hurricane winds are 157mph+ - in fact these winds are equivalent to an EF4 tornado (EF5 begins at 201 mph)

Wow that IS a beast. Thoughts with the Mexicans..... It's always the poorest who get hit hardest.

The WX channel says the barometer inside that thing is 25 inches, the second lowest pressure ever recorded. Dang!
