This is disturbing, even more so if it actually comes to pass..

this is typical over reaction in the wrong direction...ofcourse this is just my opinion..but the TSA..homeland security and others are convinced that aircraft are the next way that the terrorists will attack...they have already told us they wont use aircraft again..and i beleive em...it would be stupid if they did...this is just knee jerk reaction by some fools in desks trying to protect thier jobs....pilots need to stand up and yell..keep your rights

This is about control and revenue raising, nothing else. They are using a spectre of terrorism in inject themselves into every aspect of everyones' life. My opinion of TSA is that they are a bunch of squarebadge rejects! Everytime I go through a airport and see them in action I cringe and I spent 30 years in law enforcement.

New TSA officers make less than half of what a new police officer makes. They have much less responsibility, also.

I'm sure you know this but, you get what you pay for - especially in personnel.

I know of one that works for TSA and he's an idjit, as he was married to my stepdaughter. Maybe they want more of the same. ;)

If TSA does this say goodbye to general aviation, especially the airshows, Collings Foundation Tours and anything else that resembles the same. This country is so paranoid it's killing everything freedom stands for.

My God, wait untill they do the same for Car Shows and Cruise Nights. What happend to government of the people, by the people, for the people? It looks like the "People" have no say anymore.

Sorry for the rant, but it just p*sses me off a few are so scared we might just enjoy ourselves again.

It's going to happen. For years the government has sought various ways to restrict and eliminate general aviation and enthusiast pilots. Eventually, the government gets what it wants.

I'll just move to another country if that happens...

Already Phoenix is a police state. Cameras on every corner, cameras on the freeways, everyone has a DUI, cant do this, cant do that... One lady got a bill in the mail 2 days ago for nearly $2,000.00 ($1800.00) for 2 tickets from 14 years ago..

Time to look for another state to live in.... Maybe another country. and dang, I love America...! We started the entire Aviation thing!

It's getting so that the only affordable way is to "fly" with a flightsim.

I hope they don't restrict glider operations, hopefully one day I will at least be able to afford to own a cheap glider, or maybe a paraglider. Unless some bozo gets an idea in their head that one of those could be used for a terrorist attack. :help:

IIRC, there was talk a few years back on one of the RC forums about government regulating RC AIRCRAFT...this is getting to be too much... next we'll have to have background checks to ride bicycles...after all I'm sure some suicide bombers have ridden them in the past to do their dirty work...

I'm going to shut up now before I get pi$$ed.. :monkies:

Hews,
I would not be too sure about them not looking at glider operations. The Germans made some very good glide bombs in WW2.

i already did! I'm living full-time in Singapore now. I lived in Los Angeles all my life, but after being out in Asia for the past few years, it made me realize how cool it is out here. Singapore's gov is strict, but super organized. Plus they love to showcase their military - nothing better than driving home and seeing 2 Apaches flying next to the freeway, with a C-130 in the distance....

That's part of why I moved to North Dakota.

As far as I know, we have no speed cameras or red-light cameras in the state, and speeding tickets are a whopping $1 for each mile an hour over the speed limit.

Despite the lack of "revenue cameras", we still run a budget surplus, and the roads here are much safer than anywhere I drove in Arizona, even in the middle of a blizzard.

Since North Dakota decided not to build their entire budget on the hope that the housing bubble would never collapse, we're currently running a $1 billion surplus, which means that we're capping tuition increases and increasing school funding while Arizona is busy gutting their education system and generally going bankrupt.

It probably helps that we don't have the stubborn retired population Arizona does, since I think their refusal to fund anything related to education is one of the biggest problems Arizona now faces.
