This one is about ready to come out of the paint room.

One of my modeling friend got a sheet of decals for a Lebanese Savoia-Marchetti SM-79 Transport and I saw it and instantly knew I had to do a paint of it for Manuele Villa's excellent SM.79 for FSX. A paint will follow for FS9 also.

Nice one Caz! Manuele's aircraft work well in FsX:engel016:

They do in old DXT3, but not as well in 888-8 Roger. I usually convert mine to DDS-DXT5 and double the texture map size to 2048 X 2048. The resolution is much, much higher. But there is usually a toll on frame rates for those without powerful systems. So for the paint here, I shall use the small 1024 X 1024 DXT3 textures, unless I hear further that the larger texture is preferred by you all for FSX.

I enlarge all Paint Kit textures for FSX to 2048 X 2048.

Which would you prefer, the smaller DXT3 texture or larger DDS-DXT5 texture?

My preference would always be for the larger. You can make a file smaller without lost of definition. The opposite is not always true.

But then my system can handle most anything and, I know how to change texture size.

So, I guess my post has been about as useful as an empty beer mug during free beer night.
