Thrustmaster 16000M FCS joystick

I have had this stick for a while and continue to have a problem with A/C flying level when at decent altitude and speed. It seems to make no difference which A/C or which theater install on Windows XP or Window 10 ,they all lose altitude unless I hold and "up" stick. ( about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch hold from vertical).
Of course I can set the trim which is a "pain". I have tried all different ways to check the settings and nothing seems to work. I tried Logitech 3D extreme pro earlier . I did not like the lighter weight nor the stiffness of the stick.
So, wondering if anyone has had any issues with their Thrustmaster or I may just have a problem "child". Its too old to send back. :banghead:

Hi H,
Unfortunately, as with all types of games controllers you get some that seem to last forever or those that have problem position pots that soon go 'off'...damn annoying!

There are several ways to deal. Find a local electronics shop, and search the net. Buy some new position pots and get the company (if you can't do it yourself) to fit new ones. Not particularily expensive and saves buying a new controller. You could get all of them replaced with better quality ones.

The other and cheapest/easiest is to go into your Windows OS game controllers calibration settings and go to the dead zone settings. Here you can move the mid datum point for each of your axis, and put in dead zones where the controller has no affect. By playing and setting up these you can electronically re-calibrate the controller/ position pot so that the spurious down force is nulled out.

Cheers

I didn't think about the dead zone! That might work. I was thinking about looking into the "guts" to see where the potentiometers were and if replaceable. I am a sort of tinkerer on some electrical things so I will try the dead zone idea first and then maybe tackle the potentiometer "thing"

I will keep the sim posted if case anyone finds the same issues.
Thanks of the tip:wavey:

No joy with null zones and the pot is a Thrustmaster proprietary non-contact magnetic pot.:nightmare:
I "ain't" touching that.
I will just deal with the issue for now.
