Tibet---Forbidden land

Tibet is a wonderful country--or was, since it was "gobbled up by the Red Chinese" as you´ll know, many years ago....FSX has done a very poor job in that territory so I am making Lhasa and other Cities (some fictitious) in it. It is a huge country and the views are marvelous......The Scenery will cover small and large airfields I have placed in order to make this a good FSX flying experience.

"The Mission...."
40 Century Zebra films has been allowed by the Chinese Government (?) to make a documentary about Old Tibet. You have been hired as their pilot since you know the country well---you moved around the area working for some secret British outfit back in the 80´s (Good old 004.2)--. The group will start the trip in Bhutan where they landed just a week ago under dire atmospheric conditions. It has not been decided what aircraft will be used, but it has to take a lot of film equipment and people, so you are nosing around the old hangars in the hilly airport......
Episode 1----On toward Tibet "Land of Gods"..The filming starts in earnest!!

Episode2:....Unexpected Trouble!!!!! the film company has found a temple that had been lost for centuries by a scary mistake!!!!!..danger looms and the film expedition can easily be in front of their final take and Doom!!!!! the flight is now in total danger.....

In a Sim Near You....Soon!!!!:greenf:

check LHASA capital of Tibet.....FSX just places a village there, no airport..Two or three more cities and then I start the Mission...

Hi everyone...

I have taken seriously the "Refurbishing" of Tibet in FSX now that I have finished Lhasa´s Gongar airport (ZULS) in the south west banks of the Yarlung Zongbo River, only 28 miles from the capital The airport is connected to the rest of China which includes cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Xian, Xining, Kunming, Diqing and Chamdo Region and an international route connects Katmandu Nepal ......that scenery is finished....I also finished Nyingchi Airport ( ZUNZ), which is located in the South East- It is suggested to be one of the most challenging instrument approaches in the world, since the airport is in a winding valley. There is a very interesting article how this airport will eventually be serviced by Satellite links to help with navigation entering and leaving the airport....In FSX, it will quite a challenge making your final approach and getting out of it!!!!!!...
Next will be Qamdo Bangda Airport (ZUBD), which has the honor of being the highest airport in the world, with an altitude of 4,334 metres (14,219 ft).Visitors are warned before landing to move slowly on leaving the plane and that they may feel light headed or dizzy because of the thin air. (This also happens in La Paz, Bolivia with its airport at 13,300 ft)....It was pretty hard to find the location (or nearby one) of this airport in FSX, but I think I nailed one....Once I finish with this, the Mission will start...

Finally I also made two "small rural" airstrips which will also test your nerves in this wonderful country. Since many do not like missions I will put out just the scenery for those who wish to fly in Tibet by themselves....

check this out...

Ok...Pilotos!!!! the Mission is about to go up!!!!! planes have been tested in these high airports and the
crew has chosen the following....

The old FS9 Vanguard...from Classic British Files:
(DOWNLOAD:) VANGUARD.zip at:
http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=28&func=fileinfo&id=14
it flies very well in the thin air......and in FSX

And.........

Miles HP Reading Marathon Mk2 .
http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=28&func=fileinfo&id=523 or in AVSIM.com---m69.zip)----flies perfectly in FSX

Not Very Common Aircraft!!!!! but right for the Mission.......the latter one, the Miles, was an experimental plane
that made outstanding flights......and its just right for the "out in the boondocks" small airfields out there
in the plains and Mountains of Tibet.....

Hope to have the mission and scenery by next weekend...............so if you want some real --hard as nails
flights-- get these planes and practice some around Nepal in order to be "Fit" for what´s in store in--
Good old Tibet, Land of the Gods and a few Lamas....................:173go1:

Since many do not like missions I will put out just the scenery for those who wish to fly in Tibet by themselves....

Personally I prefer missions that are matched to scenery rather than just swanning about. Gives more purpose to the flight.

Really looking forward to this one Gera. :wiggle:

This looks wonderful, I found a Lhassa in an old scenery add on for one of the older FS versions but i think it only had the Potala, i hope you got that palace in your scenery, it is such a historic and fascinating structure. I really look forward to your work here , thanks for doing it. Namaste as they say over there.

Hi Pips....

Me too.....if you got a story to go with the flight is much more fun.....but then again, with this one you´ll get airports to go fly by yourself anytime you like in Tibet, which is totally bare in FSX.........send feedback after you fly the Mission!!....:wave:

You will find my "version"of the great Palace in Lhasa.....and others around the country..:kilroy:

Glad to see you guys like it.......two more landing areas and it will be ready to go, a very small airfield by a lake and a "road" used as landing area for a small town. This "country" is really beautiful and the mountain area is huge!!!!, I might just have a second edition coming along later on.....back to work.:rapture:

Ahhhh Grasshopper, the land that time forgot is not forgotten after all.

Looks great Gera. :applause:

Hi Gere,

Looks like some good flying Fun !!

Thanks for your Mission !! :friday:

Many Cheers !!

Looking good!:applause:
Just a small historical correction: Tibet was not "gobbled up by the Red Chinese". It's been part of the Chinese Empire since the Yuan (Mongol) Dynasty, more than 700 years ago! Leave the re-writing of history to the politicians!

Tell that to the Dai Lama!!!!!.....but I guess their liberty is of no interest to many hu????....

"2008 Tibetan Protests against the Chinese powerholders -- initiated by Buddhist monks -- flared up again in 2008. The Chinese government reacted strongly, imposing curfews and strictly limiting access to Tibetan areas. The international response was likewise immediate and robust, with a number of leaders condemning the crackdown and large protests (including some in support of China's actions) in many major cities............Nice Chinese!!!!----The protest of people "gobbled up by sadistic Communist regimes" will go on and on and on until they are free...................am no politician amigo, but the Tibetans are as free today--- as Yaks in a zoo!!!!----:focus:
