Tigercat!

After a few pretty atrocious crashes on landing in RTW race practice, I went by Grumman on Long Island and picked up a new F7F Tigercat. After a few touch n goes there, I headed out to sea and met up with a couple of carriers, the Lexington and Saratoga. I circled around them and since I rarely catch up with the Sara, I decided to land on her. Not too bad an approach. Got a little low towards the end and just flew it straight onto the deck.

I think I now know what I was doing during race practice...

The first thing I do when safely on deck is to fold the wings. Keeps me out of trouble unless I forget to lower them before launching. That can be embarrassing.

As you well know, a few Naval aircraft have taken off with the wings folded. A Crusader pilot actually made the circuit to come back to land!

Cheers: T

Another of those "as real as it gets" things. In FS, you can't get airborne with them folded. I've come of the pointy end of the ship a couple of times and fell straight down into the water with them folded.

yeah that Crusader had a 'habit' it seems of taking off with wings folded.... here's one from VMF(AW)235 at Da Nang;
