TileProxy vs Real World

Thought i post some shots from the real world and stack them up against TileProxy.

This is a route i flew many times in real life. It's amazing how useful TP is for VFR...all the landmarks, roads, mountain elevations, etc are there. Pretty neat software.

I flew it for awhile after Lionheart got me past a few installation problems and I have to admit that it is pretty spectacular when flying low and slow, especially in areas you're familiar with and can recognize streets, houses, old haunts, etc. But the lack of any autogen when you are landing or on the ground leaves a lot to be desired for me. . .kinda like landing on a lifeless planet.

It's great for screenshots, but until they find a way of incorportaing autogen back into the mix to give the landscape some life and depth I won't be using it anymore.

Cool shots Feng!

:ernae:

I am hoping that Aces will have a revolutionary idea on incorporating this into FS11 with non-blurry, high resolution terrain tiles. I think that would 'kick butt!'

Great shots there. I have done an install of TP, but when I load flight sim and choose a flight, it loads scenery up to about 43% then freezes flightsim. I waited up to thirty minutes before backing out from task bar, and shutting down flight sim. I have High speed broadband internet so the problem must be the interface between TP and FS. Would love to get it to work as the "new world" looks great. (I have placed the ProxyUser.ini into the root TP folder so set up seems to be ok). Is there anything else I may have missed? The install was beta6

hey lionheart, have you seen anything about the xbox 360 game HAWX? It isnt released yet, but will be soon, and comes decked out with photoreal scenery and autogen/cities/buildings that supposedly is smooth enough for its cast of fast movers, F-14, 15, 16, 18, 22, etc. Its just another arcade game, but damn if it doesnt look sexy. At least they are trying to incorporate good flight dynamics, even boasting the ability to stall in the advanced flight mode lol

I'll have to look for that. Sounds pretty cool. I am beginning to think that photo terrain may be an overnight 'change' in the FS world.

try uninstalling beta6 and use beta7. I switched to 7 and after using the .ini file provided on that one website, everything seems to be running smooth and no black-squares. But make sure you edit the .ini file to make sure the install directory for the world/cache matches the same as the .ini or TP won't work.

I agree, TP looks weird at low levels. I do turn it off if i'm doing a "by the books" flight. For casual VFR flying, TP is great tho.
