Time of day crashes FS9???

Anyone have any idea what is happening here? If I set time of day to dusk FS9 starts to load hangs then crashes, any other time loads ok

is it at a spacific airport , or anywhere, im thinking maybe a recently installed ai package, the only thing i can think of im afraid.
cheers ian

Recently installed scenery... either payware or freeware, have you done that bit lately....? It sounds like there may be a corrupted texture file that loads within the environment for that specific time. As you say, all other times are fine. Like Ian said, check also the AI... AND check different airports as well as different flyable aircraft at that selected time. If all that works OK then I would reckon it would be a corrupted texture file at that specific airfield.

Just a thought to start with.

Back when I knew much less about FS9's guts, I must have mixed up sky and cloud textures once. Suddenly my sky was huge slabs of electric bright colors, not a crash but I thought well there I've ruined things and will have to re-install. Like was said, check recent scenery or texture installs especially an auto install. They put files where needed and can be hard to un-do. Depending on what you have installed, you can grab the default sky textures and re-install just those and see what happens. Last resort you can use system restore to sometime just before the problem started. Other programs/settings are affected so check to see what might need adjusting after the restore.

Had to reinstall FS9, won't install that again..
anyone know of any addons for water and sky other than Spikes?

I remember early incarnations of VOZ had this issue, from memory the fix was to uncheck "dawn/dusk texture blending" in the display settings. Might be worth a shot.
