Tinkering Around With Nuclear Option Today

FAC257

SOH-CM-2026
The developer on Nuclear Option has been cranking out updates non-stop. Decided to jump back in a mini-campaign today while the hurricane moves thru.
This little combat sim is a amazingly fun to fly. Several different aircraft to choose from. Simple scout type like in the ramp pic below and all the way up to a stealth strategic bomber. Very simple to learn with only a few commands programmed to my X-52, but the missions and seemingly dynamic mini-campaigns will kick your butt. Surviving missions early on while the enemy air assets and anti-air assets are still in force and making it back to base is an accomplishment.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, this one brings back that feeling of the early 90's combat flight sim enjoyment.

Link to an excellent NO video. Must have been flying in multiplayer having a wingman in these clips.

Below are the key & HOTAS assignments I use on my X52. It looks like you can program anything you want to a HOTAS.

My son is into this sim with his friends. They're flying on Steam often and have even formed their own squadron. He's also started doing liveries for the planes in Substance Painter, and recently gifted me the game so I could join them for missions, or just fly formation and nuke things, which is pretty amazing to watch - from a distance!

I keep looking in the Workshop, hoping to see someone do a complete change out of the aircraft skins to USAF,USN,USMC colors & markings. There's a few of just a one or a few of the aircraft, but not the whole fleet.

I've completed the Escalation & Domination campaigns. I keep trying different strategies on the Confrontation campaign, but it kicks my butt every time. Got a new idea brewing, just haven't tried it yet.
