Maybe sticky topic?

1/ Great comparison of settings In MSFS:

This video is showing how opitions looks in the sim.

2/ Glass cockpit fix (+ more fps with plane using glass cockpits)

(Tested FPS-Fix-15Hz - it looks like it works, not placebo, it gives me +5-8 fps more with GA with glass.)

You can check this also:

Very interesting alternative approach to solve this issue with excellent frame rates and much smoother instruments

+ 19 FPS? I didnt check it yet but will try.

One thing to try out is if you are experiencing microstuttering and using Afterburner, then check that all the monitoring is off. Even if you don't have the onscreen display on, the software is polling data which can cause performance issues. Power monitoring is especially notorious for causing issues with several games.

Mainly I'm happy with performance (and MSFS installed on laptop only but I have 40-80 fps with mix of high/medium settings, my PC is for VR :biggrin-new: ). What I noticed and it's stange its a small stutter after long flight and landing in new place. On runway, after touchdown I have small but noticable stutter like every 2 seconds and if I abandon runway and go to taxiway stutter gone immediately. Very strange, bug in the sim?

I hope in nearest future we will recive support for Dx12 also, like for P3Dv5. Quite strange for me that Microsoft, who talks and advertises all the time his Dx12+ and his "great" features did a game in ... Dx11. :playful:

One has to remember that the game is made by Asobo, not MS Game Studios. It is pretty small studio and what I've gathered, FS2020 has been in developement for four years. DX11 was and in many cases is the safer and easier way to go.

DX11 isn't "outdated" as so. It is high level graphics API and DX12 is low level. This means that DX12 is not as much an iteration of DX11 like the previous DX APIs were, but really a new thing. It is not that simple to just port the cuurent graphics engine. Because DX12 is so different, we have seen pretty big performance variation between the titles using that API. So, I gladly give Asobo all the time to make the transition so that it really provides improved performance. If it is done correctly, it will be better, but as we've seen, it isn't necessarily so.

And DX11 is not going away any time soon from the game development in general. In many cases it provides adequate performance and easier approach.

I'm going to have to sit down with a note pad and get me some settings. I see a lot of things where the second step is all I need. But I really would love to run at least High clouds. But I remember even when I had FS9 on a 'puter that was capable of 90+ FPS in good weather, lots of clouds would still bring it to its knees.

Ok, this is all great and i'd love to see what's behind the links if only i could get passed this "Microsoft Non Shall Pass" nonsense.

I did finally manage to get a Microsoft Account (bought MSFS thru Steam) but Low and Behold now "Something is wrong logging into XBox Live". WTF Xbox Live !?? I don't have Xbox ! What i have is that I smell a rat !

So i guess you guys have such an Xbox ? I understand such an Xbox Live membership costs about 4 dollars a month ? Not too bad if you have and use such a thing. But what if you don't have an Xbox and have no need for it ?.... Is it like MS has finally arrived at its ultimate goal to have people pay for stuff they actually do not have ??....

I'd love to read about these tips you provide the links for YoYo but do i really have to knuckle under and pay the 4 monthly dollars just to be able to read these tips ?...

Advice please.. :mixed-smiley-027:

No need to enter any paid-for account, Jan. I have a free Microsoft and Xbox account, nothing else (no "Live" subscription). All that's needed for the MSFS forum is a free Microsoft account.

Xbox Live is the online service that Microsoft games connect to. Similar to the now defunct Games for Windows Live. Use of Xbox Live is free on the PC. You do not require any sort of subscription to use Microsoft Flight Simulator or read the forums. Just a Microsoft account.

Thanks guys, that was helpful ! I have learned two things:

#1. When i die i want to be burried in an Xbox.

#2. Getting a Microsoft Account, Xbox Account, MSFS Forum Account has been THE upmost cumbersome, irritating and aggrevating experience i have had to go through this whole year.

All's well that ends well however. I'm in !! Hurray!! (and, like you said, no cost involved)
So now i can finally say thanks for the links,YoYo! :encouragement:

And when i'm up there in my beloved yellow Savage Cub all is forgotten.

Cheers,
Jan

I tested out the above performance enhancements. Didn't budge the FPS needle for me, actually lost 3 to 5. As of late, I am getting stead 40 FPS on 4K Ultra after the last two updates.

Yep, finally I can say the same, this community hot fixes (glass cockpit) doesnt work. Better leave it.

3/ dont forget - if You have Windows 10 v.2004+ (and modern card) you can use hardware accelerated GPU scheduling, it gives few fps more:

Free guide:

Maximise performance with your new Flight Simulator. This free guide will give you a brief overview on some of the changes you can make to your PC to get the best performance out of your new Flight Simulator. With the simulator relying on new technologies, the number of tweaks and changes is limited right now, but there is still a handful you can do to get even better FPS.
This guide is aimed for those new to flight simulation and also those who are experienced simmers and just looking for a handful of tweaks to help them with their set-up.
