Are there any FSDS crazies like me on this forum?
I wonder if there is a forum just for FSDS modelers?
Milton Shupe helped me on this before (thank you Mr. Shupe), and directed me to some modeling forums, but those guys seem ga ga over Gmax most of the time. I was wondering if I am insane to like FSDS? Are there anybody as demented as me?
Thank you for all your responses.

Cheer up, Daveroo, I can help you

I took me 1 year from the time I bought FSDS to actually get into it.

I cannot speak for you, but for myself I must say the dirving force has been my innate love of flying and airplanes to want to build them in FSDS. It has not been easy but here are some shortcuts that helped me:

1) print out the entire help folder from FSDS 3.5; it will be like a thick book; read it from beginning to end and read it again; try the exercises on FSDS and suddenly you will realize that it is not hard after all; after you master a few techniques it will begin to become second nature

2) get on Adam Howe's blog from Abacus pub.com and print out all of his FSDS lessons; read and re-read until you have almost memorized them; follow his exercises stp-by-step.

It will probably take 1-2 months to fulfil all the above instructions; but I feel strongly that you will learn and understand FSDS because it is not that hard.

Once you understand build yourself a simple plane; go into airplane books and find a simple single engine with fixed landing gear airplane and go wild with it. After that, who can hold you back?

Good luck to you.

Hey Sid,

I am happy that you are still with it.

You can also visit the Design forums here as theye are quite a few FSDS talented guys around.

Yes there are.
Used the program since it came out (FSDS1) and made all my planes with it, cause it so easy to use and most of the time straight forward.
When you follow the tutorials, you can start to build your first simple plane. You don't have to study tonnes of tutorials to start, just study them when it is needed to make for example a gear animation.
As with most modelling, start simple, just a fuselage with wings to see how it all works and make more complicated models as you progress.

Most of the time i still use FSDS2 for the major part of the modelling and only use FSDS3 if it is really necessary.

It is just a fine program to build the planes that you are missing in your collection and make some other adicts happy.

Never could wrap my head around GMax. I started with AF99 (precursor to FSDS) and have had every version since. I find it to be a very elegant program, and a pleasure to work with.
