To save or not to save

Hey All,

I've no idea what is going on here but it looks to me like some sort of financial ego based powerplay by people with more money than they know what to do with.

Unfortunately it looks like in the very short term RPM cash flow is collateral damage. I think RPM expanded to 4 cars based on what they thought was financially secure footing and it has "bit" them as I get the impression their cash flow only marginally supports 4 cars. I think RPM is going to continue to race and has a pretty secure future although it may not be at a four car level.

I think RPM would be better off at a 2 full time cars and maybe one part time car level. That way they could focus on true quality and getting more of the "intel" they need - much like Stewart Haas does - a two car team that really does it well with their connections to the Hendrick organization. Petty should do the same thing - back off on the number of cars and do a better job with fewer as they certainly have access to Roush/Fenway network.

Better yet Richard work a deal to put that number 43 on the brand of car it should be on.

An edit: As for the whole Kasey Kahne situation. I don't know if this a good thing or a bad thing for Kasey. Certainly being without Kenny Francis his CC on the 9 isn't the best but that may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Maybe the "magic" (ala Knaus/Johnson) just isn't there and some time away may provide some perspective on this. I certainly always thought it odd that Kahne advertised Bud - he just never has struck me as the right kind of personna for beer. I actually think Kahne would be an ideal fit at Red Bull and an even better fit at Red Bull than he will be at Hendrick - especially if his teammate at Red Bull was to be say Brian Vickers.

Yes you can armchair CC/quarterback NASCAR as easily as you can the NFL. :)

Maybe the conglomerations will get out, Mom & Pop will get back in, and NASCAR will be NASCAR once again.

Actually, I've had great fun today in the current format, Martinsville is only 39 minute west of my abode, so I hopped into the car and shuffled up that way this afternoon for qualifying. Fine weather too. Saw Denny win the staub, shook the chicken at the 48 and launched him hallway back in the field.

Come Sunday Ed, I'm putting the extree-special ju-ju on that Lowesmobile. He'll finish the race, I'd be bored if'n I didn't have him to play on. Got good deals from a policemen buddy in the running club in the Clay Earles tower, way up where one can see everything (Police buddy is doing the half-marathon in Myrtle Beach Sunday). Seems like it's going to be a good morning for tailgating before the race too. I never get into the tract until about 30 minutes before the race itself begins, I do not care for the warm up acts, the real acts are out in the tail gating parties.

Hey All,

LOL! @Caz

Looks like your chikin is working! 19 on the grid - not a great starting place for the 48. I wonder what is up. Also looks like that chikin is working on the 29 as well - he is wwaayy back in the 30s for a start spot.

This race is shaping up to maybe be the key race in the chase. Seems Hamlin really wants to make a statement - being on the pole and all over TV. Talkin respectful though. Says he is points racing for two more races and then go all out - hmmm - don't know what that means.

As for the 48 I like that they are not in the limelight this week but am definitely concerned about whether or not Jimmie and Chad have the handle on the car. Hopefully they are just playin possum. Could definitely be a problem caused by a chikin!

We'll see on Sunday. You be sure and have a good time ! :ernae:

Well, I missed the baseball game, went to bed, and got up and saw the Korean F-1 fiasco. What a mess, but F-1 is no good without rain, I love the mayhem it brings to an otherwise boring race.

I'm off to the Paper Clip is about 10 minutes, gonna pick up Larry and we'll meet another pal at Hardees. Got the beer, got the grill, got some meat and bread, looks like we're ready for a redneck holiday.

Amazing, looks like that chicken really works! Shake it harder next weekend.

Hey All,

Well I'm glad for Caz but enuff is enuff. :icon_lol: Now the chase is on! Talledega - the joker in the deck - is next week. It can easily be the decider - if your in the wrong place at the wrong time...

As for today Jimmie and Chad have fought their way through bad luck days like today before - they'll do it again. They set their car up for the short go and it was really good on the short go - Hamlin's car was set up for the long go and which was it at the end? Luck of the draw as ordinarily there are cautions at the end - you notice how NASCAR went out of their way not to call any at the end. No complaints as getting 5th in a short go car was fine.

Well, Denny's in the house. Chikin sorta worked, but I couldn't keep the 48 or the 29 fully at bay.

The 29 is always good at Talledega, the 48 and 11 either finish in the top five or they wreck. So a double-whammy chikin is needed for Halloween.

The last three tracks are Jimmie Johnson specials, so I will have to buck up the chikin for those three. JJ owns Homestead, I need a dozen chikins for that race.

Go Denny Hamlin #11.

Hey All,

Glad you had a good time Caz! Wouldn't want the 48 to upset that barbeque!

Anyway here is a bit of video saying exactly what I have been saying on two points. The 48 was set for the short go and the last 20+% of the race ran green and - Talledega - the chase is on after Talledega! Johnson says Martin confirms.

As a sidenote - good to see Brad Keselowski win again and there were 4 - count em - 4 women in the truck race including Johanna Long and the HOT Cope sisters.
