Too many and too tall trees

How many of us have used fs2020 to find our house? Add me to the list. Louisville, like many other cities, looks wonderfully realistic and accurate especially in the city itself. But in the suburbs where there are trees one finds forests. Flying over the area where my house should be several times I finally caught a brief glimpse. I wanted a better view. Landing on roads nearby my subdivision and entering I was met with a narrow passage with trees up to the roadway. Trying to venture through I was met with several obstacles causing crashes. So much for that. Eventually attempts via flying at a lower altitude I did see the house sitting at the bottom of a canyon of trees. There must be multiple times as many trees and significantly larger trees than what exists in reality.

Earlier, others complained to the MS team during the Betas. Hopefully, with all the other more important issues to be resolved, the trees eventually can and will be improved in the future.

To obviate crashes, you should use the drone controls.

pause mode - pause key

entering drone mode - insert key

going down - f key

going up - r key

left - a key

right - s key

forward - w key

backward - s key

return to aircraft - numpad 5

pitch down - numpad 2

pitch up -numpad 8

yaw left - numpad 4

yaw right - numpad 6

With these controls, you can pause over your house and let the drone do the hunt without crashes.

Thanks hub... and js... for two interesting and promising solutions yet, but soon, to be tried. I'll expect to be pleased with the results.

If you have an Xbox controller, it works wonderfully for controlling the drone. Doesn't interfere with the yoke/HOTAS.

I used the drone method to successfully find my house.

I would also like to have the tree mod. I need the full location where the xml needs to be loaded for MSFS purchased thru MS.
I may need special access to the files and folders. Can someone please supply what I need to do to have access to the files.

Thanks..

It's under the "Official" side of the Packages section.

In a Steam install (According to the Readme):
C:\Users\(you)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\vegetation

In a Store install
C:\Users\(you)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\vegetation

Happy to learn that it made the trick jimjones.

I do find the trees a bit, shall we say, expansive. But I will wait future Asobo downloads (one is due tomorrow) before modifying something in the Official folder.

They may just do the job themselves as, if I understand correctly, the "tree problem" has been a hot topic.

Thanks Tom for the path. Works a charm. Found my neighborhood frequently and house.
What a long path. Will have to save it for future.
Good to know the fix will be overridden in update.
