I always thought the Crossfire and the Chevy SSR had good looks, but might have had a limited
audience that would buy them....

I liked the SSR for the hard top convertible.
Someone locally had one, and it seemed like a nice street cruiser.

I liked the Crossfire convertable also.
Gal at work has one she brings out on nice days.

The Cadillac XLR was a no-brainer.
Why pay that much when you can have a Corvette and spare change?
Better re-sell value on the 'Vette too.

RHD with UK plates, I'm amazed, normally US cars don't go down too well in the old empire.

I was a fan of the Pontiac Solstice; thought is was a great looking car (while the Saturn knock-off, the "Sky" looked kinda cheap and cheesy by comparison IMO). Unfortunately, GM forgot to put a gas tank in it and then killed off the brand before the car could reach its full potential...

Car Failures

While out on my daily run yesterday, a beautifully restored Ford Edsel driven by a rather stunning blond drove by. It was probably the largest failure of any model of car in the 20th Century!

The crossfire was basically an (uglier,imo) Mercedes SLK. They didn't sell too well in Europe as prospective buyers generally chose the German marque instead.

As nice as the Crossfire looked,........two things turned me off on it. 1, Super price for what they were asking. 2, The white band of color going around the front wind shield. Looked dumb.

I had a great uncle who was a two time looser; he was an Essex dealer, then an Edsel dealer.

There was an episode of Top Gear years ago where Clarkson did a test of the Crossfire. Needless to say he was less than impressed. No shock there!

With the exception of the scallops on the hood, I actually like the looks of the car...although I don't think I'd want to own one. Much like the Prowler, Chrysler just didn't put enough engine into it (IMHO).

Well...to be fair...I recall hearing that some Pontiac dealers here in the US had leftover Azteks on their lots until 2007...nearly two years after Aztek production was canceled. They must've practically given the things away!

Am I the only one who doesn't find Edsels to be all that hideous? I think the '58-'60 Mercurys were far uglier...and you could at least get a 401cid/345hp monster motor in the early Edsels. Quite a lot of motor for the time...
