Tornado leaves trail in the southeast USA

Here's what a tornado leaves behind, as seen from the air near Birmingham, Alabama. It's a nasty trail, and the storm system killed over 300 people. The NWS picked up the tornado on radar. The debri in the vortex reflected the radar energy, which made it possible to be seen on radar. It is reported to have lifted the debri as high as 8000 feet. I have seen the radar picture, and it's sobering.

Bone, my wife found a satelite pic of Alabama that showed three tornado tracks running from West to East. You can see them from space! Nuts.

I just got back from dropping off a couple hundred bottles of water at a collection point in the neighboring county (St. Clair Co.). The place is devastated, but I haven't heard one word about that county on the news, local or national news. Very odd. The local EMA guy said they have been trying to get Representatives from Montgomery to come survey the damage but haven't had any luck yet. It's crazy here.

terrible series of tornadoes and twisters man...the videos and snapshots in addition to these indicate the power and scope of these storms.

heartfelt concern here for all the people who were caught in it - very little warning was issued from what I hear...even with the best equipment, because these things just pop up in seconds based on the conditions.

That is literally a 'swath of destruction'
