TrackIR and Joystick Control in CFS1...

I started a similar thread a while back and then got diverted before it was sorted out. Basically, I've gotten nostalgic for WWII flying in ETO. I got out the discs and dove in, or, tried to. ETO will not see my joystick. I can calibrate it in Settings and all looks good...untill I try to fly. At this point, the plane only responds to the 4 arrow keys. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

Second question...which needs an answer first. Is ETO set up for TrackIR? I've gotten spoiled flying with TrackIR and probably won't spend much time with ETO if TrackIR is not enabled. Thanks.

Hello Hauksbee :wavey: I'll be brief.

No. For a list of compatible Flight Simulator compatible with TrackIR, go HERE.

You must be on Windows 7. There is a solution HERE. (First in the list.) But, considering my first answer... :toilet:

second question..first,
hubba is correct.
the vc's in cfs are,
to say the least, minimal.
if you must use your track ir,
you might want to try cfs2or3.

first question...
cfs1 controller problems began with vista
and have continued with w7.
i've had controller issues
and i run xp pro.
i can't say for sure,
but am guessing it is a result
of a xp service pack update.
since i've found a work around,
i haven't taken the time
to track down the cause.

if you can give up your track ir for the old game,
and still need help with your controller,
just give the word and we'll try to help
get you on track...so to speak.

Thank you very much. It worked, on the first try. 'Pity about TrackIR, tho'. Still, it seems that much has changed since I originally flew ETO. (more planes available) I think I'll stick around and get re-accquainted.

welcome back.

over at the cfs2 forum,
the mod refers to it as "the senior sim".
if that's the case, then over here,
we must be the ancients.
no matter, cfs1 still has a lot to offer.

check out hubba's stuff,
http://www.thefreeflightsite.com/Hubbas.htm
the Ripe scenery is extraordinary,
as are all of his creations.
you will be pleasantly surprised.

next, have you considered flying multi-player?
the AAC flies every sunday.
the group consists of pilots from north america and europe.
now, there's a kick in the pants.
it's so much better than flying against the ai.

De rien. (strictly translated, it means "of nothing", but it actually mean "you're welcome"):jump:

Go and try the jeep. BTW- use the "Chinese hat" to look around. I don't want to have your simulated death on my conscience... :kilroy:

P.S.- Thanks smilo for the compliments. I'm sure that, given time, you would have answered Hauksbee with the same information.

Now, if I can stop writing Pidgin English (...list of compatible Flight Simulator compatible with TrackIR...), really... but it was in the middle of the night, that's my excuse and I will stick to it.

Just stopping by to say, "Thanks, again".

Thanks for pointing me to the patch that restores my joystick controls. Microsoft ETO is even better than my memory of it. (and how often does that happen?) For the last few years, I have been flying WWI (Over Flanders Fields) exclusively. It's nice to get back into a Hurricane cockpit again. After a weeks practice, I can stand off two Me-109 (Aces) again. There is one Quick Combat mission that I still yearn to complete successfully: Protecting, and escorting back to base, a damaged P-38. I haven't cracked to code on that one yet, but I'm getting closer. So...thanks again.

Good for you, Hawksbee:applause:

WWI and II TrackIR was a scarf made out of silk. That P-38 never made it with me either! Kind of a Kobayashi Maru scenario, if you're a Trekkie like me.
