Tricking FSX to use AI models as aircraft replacements?

I hate that FSX subs random aircraft in my library, when I don't have something that another guy is flying.

In my case, many of the guys fly the VRS Super Hornet and I don't own it. My proposal was to use one of Nick Black's AI F/A-18Es and rename it to match the VRS specs. I had a friend tell me what the cfg file named the VRS model and I typed it in, but in game, it still subbed it for the IRIS F-22.

I even tried following a post on VRS' forum, using the stock Accel Hornet, but that still didn't work. Again the IRIS F-22.

Has anyone successfully forced FSX to use what they wanted as a replacement?
