Trouble with controls.

It's been quite a while since I flew CFS3 and I recently installed it onto a new system. (Windows 7 Premium 64 bit) I'm having a lot of trouble setting up my controls properly. I've got a Saitek ProFlight Yoke, CH Pedals and a TQ6 for throttle and flaps.

Here's my problems:
When I calibrate my CH pedals everything works fine however in the simulator when trying to assign the brakes I'm having issues with it recognizing them. If I try to assign to the brakes (Left Only) it doesn't recognize them. (Right side is the same issue). If I try to set the brakes using the Brakes Left (Set) it recognizes it as it does on the right side. However, for some reason the left brake is on when my foot is off the pedal. The right one works fine.

On my TQ6 for some reason my flaps axis is not recognized when I try to assign them. Throttles assign fine.

On my Saitek Yoke when I drop bombs, sometimes you've got to hit the button a bunch of times before it let's them go which by then you're usually way past your target.

I'm thinking maybe I need to upgrade to a newer combat sim which is more programmable. I've also got some buttons and switches I use for FSX but I don't see anyway of assigning them. I use a USB interface 2125 purchased from Desktop Aviator. Is this possible?

Thanks, Mitch

I also recently re-installed CFS3 after a long absence. With bomb release, the way the game seems to work is, any more than very slight roll or negative pitch movements prevent release. Pitch up doesn't affect it. This applies to jettisoning fuel tanks too. Rockets don't seem to have this issue. I don't have any ideas for the other issues you have... I just use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro and the assignments all work. I only use the "b" key for brakes, and it seems flakey even on the keyboard.

Thanks for the reply Bear Flag. That makes sense. I'll have to pay closer attention when releasing the bombs to see if that is the case.

I just wish I had the option to reverse when the brakes are to be applied and that doesn't seem possible in CFS3 unless I maybe re-install. I'm going to look around today and see if I can find a newer WWII flight sim which has more control options.

Hitting B for brakes can be problematic if you have taken some damage. The brakes won't work if flak or enemy fire has damaged them.

HTH,

Maybe I'm missing something, but in the game's Control Assignments, I don't see any option for separate left or right brakes (unlike regular MS Flight Sim) it is just "brakes" and "brakes (parking)". Likewise if by "reverse" you mean reverse thrust, that isn't listed in the Control Assignment and none of the stock aircraft have reverse thrust available anyway.

The comma and the full stop (period for yanks :) ) on the keyboard serve for left and right brakes :wavey:
