Trouble with some DP's...

Have all missions for a campaign finished, just trying to figure out how to put them together after test flights.Just flew a TBD mission.Issue is using the IJN Kako and Aoba GMAX.Great ships and just what need EXCEPT the AA fire sniper like, need to tone it down some. I am still new to DP ed and editing DP via notpade etc . Just need some suggestions on which guns(if not all?) to edit and what would be a setting that does no neuter the guns but takes away the sniper like accuracy.

Edit: I am thinking the 25 MM guns are part of the issue as well.They knocked down 11 TBD'swh o were flying past the ship.Damaged me during my torpedo run, caught fire but survived.What should do about the 25 MM guns? Believe with them adjusted as others, should be a good fix for now.

My notes on introducing aim-off to make the AI less accurate work with direct fire auto cannons, mgs too.

Regarding the 25mm specifically, I believe this weapon was magazine fed, so it's sustained rate of fire during any attack will be significantly lower than the raw data for ROF suggests.
This comment applies to many flak pieces - there is an element of interpretation required rather than slavishly following published gun data. Don't forget that in many cases, the ammo was being fed by a frightened soldier/sailor, as part of a crew, & not a robot.

Please forgive me, but it was my mistake in not looking at the file in full. I should have realised when there were only three 20cm guns.
Having said that, I looked at the Kako and I think I will redo it and it's textures to reflect my later ships (and make it easier to be re-skinned by some enthusiasts).
At the moment it only has about 7000 poly's but it is not multi-lod, so I should fix that.
The result will be 'new' ships with higher polygon counts (sorry allen). Should take a month or so.
BTW I have finished the IJN Kaga 1928 style and a IJN Akagi 1927, except cfg files, for Cowboy 1968.
The cfg files for the Kaga have given me problems that I do not seem to be able to solve, and I do not know why.
I will post separate thread about the akagi and it's sloped flightdeck.

Sounds fantastic!
I tried to retouch position of windows & portholes around main bridge of Aoba/Kako but now I will wait for Version 2!!!
Also can't wait for Akagi & Kaga!!!

I can adjust the guns. These are custom for these ships. CFGs for both normal and CAT versions.

Gave them a try, AA fire is still sniper like murderous to AI TBD, shot me up as well but made it back.I tried the the adjustments mentioned.Thanks for posting

The Kako/Aoba only have 8 25mm guns (4 x 2) and 4 13mm guns (2 x 2).
The DP file has more, 12 25 mm guns.
You could change 1d1*25 to 1d1*13 and 24 to 4.0, and 900 to 805

Try these. I altered Bloodhawks dp files whilst travelling, so I haven't had a chance to test them in game. Let me know how you get on with them.

Edit: I gave them a quick test in the mission I built. No more sniper but maybe a little too nerfed now. While I saw Kako down two TBDs.I closed in on an Aoba and it never fired on me, especially as i reached the drop point. Much better though then before. I will test further this evening with different skill levels.I had the ships set to novice since their AA was already so effective, but will see how it works on vet and ace with the new DP.

Hi Dasuto,

I think the "not opening fire" is a novice thing. They can easily be tweaked to make the tracer more deadly, & the flak bursts more "intimidating".:jawdrop:
