Troubles ETO expansion installation

Hello,
I decided to review my installation to the standards expected for ETO installation.

I followed the ETO guide but I had 2 B2E errors and so (I suspect) the ETO Installation was wrong . I did not see the ETO install3.jpg

How to correct the B2E error and try to reinstall ETO?

Thanks in advance

FYI I run Vista Home Premium SP2

Hello again Emile,

We've seen the B2E.exe thing before, but I'm not convinced it is anything to do with ETO - run your antivirus just in case.

I think this is part of what I described in my last post. By default, ETO expects to find a folder on your hard drive called Microsoft Games which contains the folder Combat Flight Simulator 3. If not, users have to take lots of care how they install ETO.

If you're getting the "MDL Patcher" title in MultiCFS3, then ETO has not been installed to a similar folder structure and MultiCFS3 has not found a valid ETO installation - as the guide tells you. This is horribly easy to get wrong if you're using a 64-bit version of XP, Vista or Windows 7 - I know, I got it wrong several times myself in Windows 7 64-bit.

As the guide tells you, you will have to delete ETO and start again. I'd strongly recommend you also delete the plain copy of CFS3.1a if it's not in Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3 - if you're using a 64-bit version then that will be Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3 - and reinstall CFS3 to the default location, patch to 3.1a and run in Quick Combat.

Then start again to install ETO. If you're using 'ordinary' Vista Home Premium (32-bit) then accept the default installation. If you're using 64-bit Vista Home Premium, follow the instructions in the Guide about paths.

Yell again if it goes belly-up!

This is the sort of folder structure I mean. Notice how many CFS3 installations there are?

Hello and thanks to you all I have installed ETO up to 1.20 !!:ernae:

Now How? I did follow exactly the guide (thanks for it) . I can inform you that on my Vista 32 Home Premiun SP2 NO BATCH file runs from the installation .exe . They simply do nothing or generate a B2e error (B2e stands from "from batch to exe) !!I did run manually the copy of the files from the CFS3 installation files, always answering next to the installation exe, even the bdp swapper in 1.20 did not run so I ran it manually.

Do not ask me why the batch did not run on my system I do not know.....

I make my backups, defrag and ...
Questions ? Do I need to install the effects, guns and so on that I installed in CFS3? Do I follow the same process for the other "expasions" like PTO? etc ...

More questions to come.
Thanks:applause:

Good show! Have you checked to see the Era Start program swaps eras as it should? A different splash screen is shown for each era - the splash for the era you have chosen is displayed as ETO starts. But you'll need to turn off the UAC in Vista (confounded nuisance) for it to work properly

Effects, guns, weapons etc are already in ETO and without doubt they are some of the best we have for now. Same goes for the NEK - it's not needed as ETO already has a modified version of it to suit the theatre.

You might want to add some extra ETO missions in time, but you'll find ETO 1.2 has a whole heap of missions already. Enjoy!

Hello,
Yes I have access to the different eras.

I use Alacrity (stop all non necessary programs running) product to start CFS3 BUT does some one know HOW TO with ETO as first whe need to start "ETO start" 2 windows are generated before ETO starts.

What about installing PTO = same precess than ETO?
Thanks in advane

You can start ETO without the ETO Start batch file by simply starting CFS3.exe in your ETO folder. You will always start in the Era you last set in ETO Start. I'd suggest making another shortcut on the desktop for it, to go with the 'official' ETO shortcuts - Alacrity should have no bother with that, I think.

Hello,
I found a solution. AlacrityPC closes all non necessary and goes into pause, then I can start ETO, afyerwards I activate AlacrityPC and restore all the stopped.
Thanks

Strange problem with ETO 1.2

I have a problem with one part of ETO 1.2. It seems My HUD from F5 has a guage problem. The speed guage is replaced by Compass guage, meaning I have 2 compass guages and no speed guage in that mode.

Is that a standard problem, and is there a way to fix it?

Gosh, it's a long time since I last saw that one! There are five gauges in a row and you cycle what each displays with Control + Shift + number where number is the gauge you want to change. The gauge will cycle through the five types available, plus type 6 - none! Note that you use the main number keys, not the number pad ones.

Hope this helps and welcome to the madhouse! :wavey:
