Truk is part of the Enterprise campaign.So far there are 23 new missions for it and 10 are the attacks of Enterprise aircraft on Truk.There is some air to air combat,anti ship and the destruction of Eten airbase.The last mission is to destroy the oil tanks by the anchorage.There are other carriers involved but you will only fly from Enterprise.

Next will be attacks on Palau.

I am also working on Operation Hailstone but with the player flying off USS Essex CV-9 and nearly finished with the first day's attacks. I am using Collin's ESSEX 44 for nostalgia's sake but all the other CVs are Stuart277's Essex. It is my intent to use Stuarts ships for 1943 and 45 as the player's home base, and ESSEX 44 for the player base in 1944 only. That is to pay homage to the memory of Collin. and the lit flight deck will come in handy on my return after sunset in the Battle of the Philippine Sea later :).

Aloha Shadow Wolf,

My son has been using the VN Essex and one has lights also.We didn't know Collins Carriers had lights.I think 1 version of Stuarts Enterprise has lights but not sure.We also repainted the Enterprise for different times in the war and renamed them.

This could be interesting having different perspectives on missions in the same area.Also Essex and Enterprise were in the same Task Group at times,not at Truk thought.From reading the book The Big E my son found the position of her and the heading the planes used to attack Truk.

I figure Al sent the links he used for the TF compositions and break down to TG.If not let me know and I will send them to you.

I have a problem

name=MN_Moen_SPB WSW takeoff
base_lat=N07 26.64
base_lon=E151 51.02

are the coordinates I have for the Moen seaplane. Unfortunately, the base shows in Mission Builder as being in the center of the island, not on the coast or at sea. Does anyone have different or updated coords for it?

Do you mean the gsl objects or the airbase coordinates used by Mission Builder?

I don't have the original FSSC files any more, but it should be easy enough to find some coordinates that work by starting a Freeflight in a floatplane.

Just go there in MB, zoom in on the map to find a spot you like, place the mouse or any infrastructure there and note the coordinates. Then modify the airbase entry using the new coordinates.

That's exactly what I thought to do. I just posted the issue/question in case the author or someone else had already made the change and having seen no postings about it, make others aware of the situation.

I found a map on Pacific Wreaks and the sea plane base,I can't d/l it, is by southern tip of Moen.When you zoom in on the UT scenery for Truk you will see piers there and the grey strips should be part of it.They great area I would think is for when planes were out of the water for normal repairs.

I saw those facilities and had already decided to post that area for the seaplane base coords. Thank you, just the same! And thanks to you too, UT for the map! :wavey::applause:

For general interest for anyone working on a Truk mission , the site I posted for SW7 has a location of all the known wrecks with side views, description of the ship and other info ie; cargo. Just have to poke around the site to find it all.

Cheers Fibber:

FYI: In my base attacks on Truk, I have the player flying either a F6F-5 an SBD-5 or a Wolfi TBF. Each Mission has them concentrate on the airstrip side of Moen. I could do more base attack missions but this is a long campaign and Opn. Hailstone is only part of it.

My son's missions concentrate on Eten but also attacked the airstrip at Moen.I think he said it was late in the day to avoid some night attacks.

He also said the F6F-5 didn't come into service until September - October 1944 and the Carriers had both at the time,Truk was Febuary 1944.He looks things up.

He also has textures for the SBD-5 for Essex for late 1943 early 1944 if you want it.

Hello folks ; Just threw that post in there concerning the ships and their particulars as general info. Took some poking around that site to locate that page.

Your research and sharing are greatly appreciated, Fibber.

, thank you (and son) too. I made the mistake of using the availability date from the dp (06-01-43) rather than research it more deeply . I have already swapped out the F6F-5s with F6F-3s in my Hailstone missions. But, as for the SBD-5 skin, no thanks. Aloha!
