Trying to add a pitot heater gauge

I try to add a pitot heater gauge but that don't work , the gauge don't even flip/flop on the screen. What I'm missing?

the panel.cfg
gauge00=bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio Nav-Comm 1, 0, 1, 230, 90
gauge01=bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio XPNDR, 0, 90, 230, 70
gauge02=bendix_king_radio!Bendix-King Radio AP, 0, 160, 230, 70
gauge03=Lear_45!Nav GPS Switch,107, 230, 19, 35
gauge04=Mooney_Bravo!HSI, 0, 234, 104, 102
gauge05=Mooney_Bravo!Pitot Heat, 170, 234, 29, 45
gauge06=Mooney_Bravo!Avionics Switch, 200, 234, 29, 45

the aircraft.cfg
[electrical]
engine_generator_map = 1
max_battery_voltage = 12.0
generator_alternator_voltage = 13.5
max_generator_alternator_amps = 25
;BusTypes:0=MainBus,1=AvionicsBus,2=BatteryBus,3=HotBatteryBus,4-7=Generator/AlternatorBus(1-4)
;BusType, MaxAmpLoad, MinVoltage
avionics_bus = 2, 5.5, 7.0
avionics = 1, 5.5 7.0
additional_system = 4, 10.5, 7.0
starter1 = 0, 20, 7.0
pitot_heat = 4, 15, 10.0
Landing_light = 2, 9, 7.0
Nav_lights = 2, 4, 7.0

Thanks for help.

Never mind the panel.cfg and the gauges.
You'll find your answer in either the aircraft.cfg or the .air file. :eagerness:
Happy hunting.

Edit- Man, I got my eyes dilated this morning and obviously its time to take another nap. :dizzy:

Try this and see if it helps:

pitot_heat = 0, 2, 17

That first variable, "4" looks a little odd. :unsure:

The '4' in the first column means the item is on the alternator/generator bus on engine 1 (i.e. the engine must be running and generating power before anything on that bus will run). If you make it a '0' (zero) as suggested it will be connected to the main bus.

The core info is here:

Bus TypeBus
0Main Bus (most components connected here)
1Avionics Bus
2Battery Bus
3Hot Battery Bus (bypasses Master switch)
4Generator/Alternator Bus 1 (function of engine 1)
5Generator/Alternator Bus 2 (function of engine 2)
6Generator/Alternator Bus 3 (function of engine 3)
7Generator/Alternator Bus 4 (function of engine 4)

The second column is max. amps drawn (i.e. 15 amps) and the third column is the min. voltage required (i.e. 10 volts) in the original poster's data.

Thanks for your suggestions but before even the electrical questions, the gauge is not even animated. Mouse cursor change when on it, but clicking do nothing.

When you say "gauge" are you referring to the pitot tube heat switch? I read that the "switch" has no animation in the Virtual Cockpit. Not sure about the 2D cockpit.

The engine map should be something like this example:

engine_generator_map = 1, 0, 0, 0 //Boolean flag determining what eng have a gen/alt on them.

You need the entire line, otherwise it won't work because it doesn't know what value (0/1) to use for the other engine factors -- even if not installed in the aircraft (i.e. only one engine).

I tried doing this the same way you are a while back with the Fokker XX update and it didn't work. I ended up using:

engine_generator_map = 1, 1, 1, 0

... and it worked.

That said, if it still doesn't work after adding the line like that, then maybe there's something in the Mooney gauges that requires engine#1 to run -- and the generator to be on -- for the pitot heat to work? :unsure:

Without the "engine_generator_map" line, the "4" in the bus type should work without an issue, unless there's something in the gauge itself that's asking for something we're not aware of.

Saludos!

Have you tried AirEd to check the .air file? Sometimes the engine data in the .air file is the culprit.

I also think Zippy is on to something. :wavey: If you are using a switch gauge from a Stock aircraft, sometimes those gauges don't have all the bells and whistles (in the VC) of downloaded aircraft. Maybe try a newer pitot heat switch?

I moved the gauge to the main panel. It stay not animated. So let's the Mooney pitot gauge to the Mooney. I have to find another one.

I was looking for some generic switch gauges (that I know are out there) but came up short.
Let me look thru my Download Folder Of Doom. :eek: I'll post a nice set of switches once I find them.
I'm pretty sure the switches for the Mooney don't do much of anything.

Look for the "CPT Toggles" gauges. Provides every switch you could think of, in each of the switch styles used in FS2004, plus a few new ones; has toggle, rocker, rotary, and touch switches.

'cpt.toggles.metal.cab' and 'cpt.toggles.plastic.cab' are two CAB files I have in my FSX 'gauges' folder but I have no idea where I got them from (possibly as part of a larger panel set maybe) and they contain all metal toggle switches and plastic tipped toggle switches. They would require a BMP background file with text to be made though as they are just the XML code files and a generic toggle switch with no means of identifying which switch is which when placed on a panel. As they are XML files they will work in FS2004, FSX or P3D.
