The first is for the F3F-2 (BuNo 0989) used in the 1941 movie "Dive Bomber", where it crashed killing the hero, Lt. Cmdr. Joe Blake, played by Fred McMurray. In reality, the F3F ended its career at the Naval Technical Training School in Jacksonville, Florida.

The second is of a Marine VMF-2 F3F-2 was painted overall in Non-Specular Light gray in accordance with directives issued on December 30, 1940.
