Home for tea and tiffin!
Two highly evocative short films by Yohan Zedoun about the only two French heavy bomber squadrons of WWll. Based at RAF Elvington these two squadrons lost 50% of their aircrew in just 18 months in actions over France ad Germany. These atmospheric films, with footage taken maily at Elvington, also show Yohan’s grandfather Emile Machaly who was Jewish, and became one of the highest decorated officers in the French Air Force.
Thanks to the Yorkshire Air Museum for the heads up for these two films. One personal comment, you will see some out of context footage of B-17's anf POV from B-17 gunner positions and in the first film a Lanc makes a brief appearance. Both SQn's only flew Halifaxes as far as I know.
