UAC BS Limit Reached

Bjoern,

My point, which you so obviously missed, was that just because UAC has never (to your knowledge) saved you from an attack can we infer that you have ever been subjected to one.

Any malicious software this PC ever contracted could not have been stopped by UAC because it was a general lapse of reason on my part. Period.

me too - I'm my PC's worst enemy, UAC and anti-virus and whatnot be damned...

Dave should know by now that a 3rd party antivirus tool is the safest bet. And I've never had any situation in which UAC's nagging "Do you want to run...?" prompt could have saved my arse in the first place.

*It will notice when you run another anti-virus tool and not nag you about being switched of.

I believe you meant "Off" in the last sentence.:adoration:

Can't we all just get along? This place is one of the most fun places left on the internet. Let's all just agree to disagree and get back to being helpful rather than being "right". We all love to fly our computers for whatever reason...leave the grammar police out...and just get back to what drew us to the Outhouse in the first place. Rant over. Thanks for your indulgence.

UAC... I have to agree.... the most annoying feature, and the first one I turn off after a clean OS install.

Any decent av/spyware tool does a 10 times better job,

Agreed! I have Kaspersky Total. It's not cheap but since installing it in 2013, no PC infections! Also, no hit on performance with any programs including FSX.
Yep, you get what you pay for [which is why Defender is free].
I've used Kaspersky since being an early adopter of Win7 [via TechNet] without issue...;)

My feelings exactly as my original opening post declared. It would be turned off still if it weren't for the fact that I have a monthly membership to NetFlix which no longer functions without UAC being turned on. The Plugin I used with Win7 is no longer recognized in Win10. This OS now has it's own "App" for Netflix and if you turn off UAC the app won't load. So I'm putting up with clicking the stupid pop-ups every time I try to load something just to enjoy NetFlix. It's an annoying PITA, but I'm stuck with it.:banghead:

I've learned to live with UAC...

It's the spellchecker that gets me into the most trouble. I'll typically post something one day, the spell checker misses a typo that's actually a reel word, then the next day the post won't let me edit the typo.

Interesting guys, i don´t have any UAC annoyance here in win10. It´s completely on, all the windows defenses except defender, as i have my own antivirus app. I have netflix, fsx, steam, etc, etc... everything working perfectly in win10 with no pop-ups, nothing. I made a clean install and reinstalled everything back. BUT, i have a good practive to NEVER install FS or P3D (Or any addons) inside Program Files or Program Filesx86. All other things (Office, support apps go in there) Go figure.

You may be able to create a batch file to turn UAC on and off. That way you can turn it on only when needed.
I've not checked this out as I am sticking with Win7 Pro X64 and have had UAC disabled since day 1.

If nothing else, perhaps create a shortcut on your desktop to the page for turning UAC off .
