Unusual visitor at EHLE.

The first visit of the Swiss HB-HOY, a CASA 352A-3 fitted with original Ju-52 BMW engines to the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad/EHLE took place this weekend; it flew in on Friday from Paris, and left for Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Shame about the weather yesterday, but it was great to see a Ju-52 fly!

The only HDR shot of the day:

BTW Rimowa is a german manufacturer of very expensive aviation-style (Same ribbed look as the Tante Ju.) suitcases.

Yep, great machine and a great sound! Sadly it will be retired to a museum in 2012 and the engines will be used to keep the other three Ju-52's of JU-AIR flying.
Interesting: This CASA is c/n 96 and was built in 1949!

WOW! Great memories from this one: had my first Ju52 flight in this one in 2002. It had a slightly different paintjob at the time.

Now where did I leave the pics, ah here: http://www.grunform.de/ju

They did a great job on the bare metal and I really prefer the classical black/metal it shows now, but I hate those advertisements they need to run this project!

That will always be a dilemma, but it seems the only way to go if you want to keep old aircraft flying. In Switzerland there's a Constellation flying that's been turned into a flying showroom for Breitling; here we have a Connie in KLM colours but it hasn't flown for years, mainly due to a lack of money. According to rumours at least half a million is needed to get her off the ground again..
