• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

first thanks for your prayers and thoughts..means alot to myself and my family..i passed on the well wishes...

dad was to have a heart cath yesterday morning..went down to sac to be with him and we sat in the pre -op room for several hours..they came in drew blood and came back an hour later and told us some pro something test was way to high 3.5.1 something...needs to be below 2.0.0 has to do with the thickness of his blood..they say it will take until monday(possibly tuesday) to get the numbers down to do the cath,,the drs also warned mom and dad they may take him directly to the OR for either a stent placement or a bypass..they are not looking on the briteside...

a nursepractitioner(whatever that is) came in the room a few hours after i left,told mom and dad that after further testing..his kidney numbers are way off...they are 3 something,they have him on some kind of meds and IVs,i asked about dialysis and mom said not yet,,if he were sent home at a 3 or below he would need it?? but not in the horsepital,,they are currantly treating him and he doesnt need it...whew
the nurseparactitioner said he will be fine kidney wise...(scares the poop outa me though) even more so than the heart...

will have to just wait and see.....but while he was in pre-op he was nice n sweet..on a nice dose of valumn......they took him back to his room and we (mom,sis and me) went to eat..we came back and he was hungry....he turned into the bear we all know and................well let me say my sister and i were ready to leave.....:kilroy:

Thanks Dave. Yeah it sucks to think that by the time everyone realises that there is something wrong and an operation is in need, that, that's when they discover all the other preconditions of an operation are all out of whack too ...

Just something more to charge you for while they fix that.

You'd think doctors would be wise to the point that once you reach a certain age that they automatcially start checking stuff like that, for just such an occasion.

Snuffy, Doctors do that on a regular basis. The main problem is people reluctant to have the tests done, or refusing to get them done, thinking that since they feel fine right now, there's no need to submit to tests. Catching any condition early enough to prevent problems is kind of a crap shoot. Sometimes you get sevens and elevens, and sometimes you get snake eyes. Preventative measures are ALWAYS cheaper than waiting until you're in the ER; it's knowing that once you pass the magic age of 40, you need to get regular check-ups.

you are so right..my dad is a very stubborn man but he is also a chickens... he absolutly refused to go to the dr before..said nothing wrong with me im in great health...i personally thing he was afraid to find out he was sick....
