UPDATED CRUISERS AND BATTLESHIPS

Hi guys;
Have been looking around for some updated cruisers and battleships to stick in the FoxFour campaigns\missions. All that seems to be available are the VN_*.* ships which are all dark colored. The ships during the Korean action were hull haze and deck grey by that time. Anyone know if some ships reflective of this are available?
If not can someone point me to a tutorial and\or tools necessary to try to repaint the VN ships?

Repainting ships as a rule is not 'rocket surgery'. The textures are generally quite simple. You could probably use the Gimp utility ( although I never have, I admit) & should have Martin Wrights DXTbmp utility as well. It would be a worthwhile enterprise to do Korean versions of the applicable VN ships & even upload them with the proper permissions.

I have been looking at doing it but I don't have "Gimp". I do have MWs DXT and so far have managed to really screw up a ship as I don't have a clue as to where to start but am willing to give it a go if I can figure it out.

Fibber, CFS2 as many other sims use compressed texture formats.
All paint programs normally save the texture in a 24bit format, which is not usable directly.
You always have to load a repainted texture again with DXTformat and save it as "extended format" - for example DXT3.
It should have the same name in the end - for example "hull.bmp"

gimp is useful, Microsoft has released Paint Dot Net (paint.net) for free, which is also worth a try:

Make sure you make copies first always!
