Updating my P3DV2 install?

I currently have P3DV2.5.1.2943.0

Just checked the P3D website, and noticed the latest V2 is 2.5.12946.0

I won't be purchasing V3 anytime soon. Can't afford it, nor can I rationalize the expense.

But will I have to uninstall what I have to do this update? Thanks. NC

I believe the 2.5 was a bit special, as it didn't work exactely in the same way as the previous versions (up to 2.4).
From what is written in that topic on the P3D forums, it appears it's a simple patch that will bring any 2.5.xxxx to the latest version: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6305&t=109680

I never installed the 2.5, I stayed with the 2.4 instead because I didn't have the courage to perform the mandatory full reinstall that it required. So I never tried that one. It doesn't sound like a full reinstall at all, but I can't confirm.

Thanks Daube,

I read through the list (short as it is) of things this update is supposed to fix. I think I will leave my version as is, and not take the risk. I do not want to have to reinstall all the addons I have. This update apparently messes up VRS Tacpac, etc.... NC

Although I'm running 3.1 I still have all the 2.5 install files on my HDD (I'm a file hoarder).

The 2.5.12946.0 Hotfix is just a zip file that you extract to the route folder of P3D, no install file.
I just contains most of the loose files in the main folder such as the exe, dll's ect. And it replaces most of the default gauges and and 4 of the files in the ShadersHLSL folder.

You could always backup the gauges folder, ShadersHLSL folder and the loose files and give it a try. If I dosent work OK for you restore the backed up files and all should be as it was.

NC...
For what its worth.. I have the most current version of Version 2 and it runs all VRS software fine..
I just installed Version 3.1 also in preparation for the next version of the VRS goodies.. Most of my decisions about FSX/P3D are centered around VRS.

Thanks. I just have the worst problems with addons and getting them to work after doing updates. Really gets tiresome, spending hours, getting things back to normal! I guess since my current version isn't causing me any problems, I will leave it be! I am, however, trying to get Accu-Feel working with P3D again though....NC

To get AccuFeel working is not that difficult. If I remember correctly, it's just about adding the DLL entries in the DLL.xml file.
I use AccuFeel in P3Dv3.1 and it works like a charm.
