UPS 747 crashes in Dubai

I know this isn't fair to the friends and family to those who died. But, isn't fliger747 the PIC on one of those? From his posts, I assume he flies for someone like UPS. I hope he wasn't one of those pilots.

My condolences to the families and friends of the pilots. May they RIP.

He was also recently in Dubai, but I did see him online yesterday, and he said he was back home a couple days ago.

Lithium batteries may have been the cause of the crash. Link.

Yep, batteries can be very hard to handle.

My company stores its batteries in old US Army ammo boxes outside, in case one of them decides to initiate a combustion process.

I live in Dubai.. My dad, being a pilot, was flying that night (He also drives via Emirates Road, which the media in the early stages of the report claimed it crashed on killing several motorists) We Heard the news that a plane had crashed on the road. but thankfully he called us to say it was cargo and not him and that it was just the media and had actually hit a military base (Near! The road) Apparently it was 500ft away from the bomb storage.. if it hit that we would certainly have felt the shockwaves! Condolences to the Families!
