what AC do the US army have in 2010?...today i heard on the McClellan freq 122.975,a female voice came on a said some thing about a flight of US army aircraft...no ID were inbound...but she didnt say to where and it was very faint...heard a USCG C130 come in after this transmition..but heard no more about the army...but it made me wonder what the armny has....King Air?...Fokker F27s?..

The Army has alot of King Air's, a small fleet of Citations, a few Gulfstream G-IV's, a B-767, a few Fokker F-27's, and I think they still have Shorts 3-30 Sherpa's.

The call sign they normally use with the King Air's and Citations is "Pat".

Oh yeah, and some ELINT DHC-7's.

Unit of Sherpa's just 20 miles from me.....interesting jump.

Also, the Army leases aircraft. I've jumped leased Casa's several times, flown by both contract, and military pilots.

This issue got Ken and I in an argument a while back. His point being the Army should not be in the lift business, my point being that since the Air Force was doing such a pathetic job at it, what did he expect?

Seriously, the issue is who is the proponent for fixed wing intra-theater lift. The Army has always felt the Air Force falls down in that regards.
