'US Grand Prix: Austin, Texas'...?

Caught this one earlier Ed.
Same comment remains, I'll believe it when the field grids up and the start lights go out ......:173go1:
With a bit of luck and a fair wind Bernie might be no longer with us by 2012.

I hope it comes to fruition because with my move to San Antonio, Texas, I stand a good chance of attending this...

Butthole, you stand a good chance of seeing whether your move comes through or not! :icon_lol:

That is just super. I still want the Glen back. 11-hr. journey for me to the Glen, but for F-1, worth it. How long a driving trip to San Antone for you from Barksdale P?

We'll see if it happens; until then, keep a certain 'Herr Tilke' out of your country!

Slightly under 7hrs if you take the interstates...

You must plan in advance if they come Panther. Go on Wendesday and stay through the race. I am not kidding, there is so much to see in F-1, a day of racing isn't worth the price of the ticket. Crowds are low for three days and you can go about anywhere. The cars are literally crated in and have to be assembled. It is a treat alone just watching the tire suppliers and crews. Lots of photo opportunities you will not get race day in assembly, practice, drivers, etc.

F-1 is a five-day affair to slurp it all in. Save the :ernae: for night time.

When the AGP was run in Adelaide we always spent a week away.
Adelaide is a relatively small city compared to Sydney or Melbourne, but a very pleasant one and the circuit ran around a large park on the perimeter of the CBD.
A ten minute stroll from our Holiday Inn would find us at the entrance, while Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights were a huge city wide street party.
In 1995, the final year Adelaide hosted the GP, one could literally walk to the circuit entrance on the shoulders of the (surprisingly well behaved!) evening party crowd, even today I doubt many Grands Prix can boast a race day attendance apporoaching 500,000 spectators.
To me, that was more or less the year my enthusiasm for F1 began to erode, today I can be at Albert Park by rail in under thirty minutes, but I miss the buzz that the Australian Grand Prix generated in Adelaide, we had to drive for 10 hours or so, and it generally cost a couple of thousand A$ for the pleasure, but a big event in a 'smaller city' is always better than one in a 'major city'.
