USAAF airfields in ETO era3 & era4

Playing some missions in era3 and era4 of ETO. Many of the airfields when in mission mode do not have any grass the surface is plain grey. When I stop the mission the ui surface has grass and so is the surface when the airfield is open in QC. But if I go back to the mission mode with the same airfield the aircraft sits on a grey surface with no grass showing.
How can I correct this?

Is it just the one mission?

I think I have it fixed now afther reloading a new vanilla ETO. Tried to avoid reloading (lazy). Must have been some corrupted files sowhere .... go figure.
